Ischemic Stroke Prevention After Intracerebral Hemorrhage
AbstractPurpose of ReviewSurvivors of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) are not only at risk for recurrent ICH but often also have vascular risk factors which predispose them to ischemic events. Therefore, clinicians must balance ischemic risk with hemorrhagic risk. This review focuses on ischemic stroke prevention in ICH survivors, particularly the use of antithrombotic medications and the management of hyperlipidemia and hypertension.Recent FindingsWhile previous randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of antithrombotic therapy in stroke prevention excluded survivors of ICH, recent RCTs such as SoSTART, APACHE-AF, and RESTART s...

Pulmonary artery compliance in different forms of pulmonary hypertension
Conclusion PAC was similar between PH groups and was not an independent predictor of transplant-free survival in PAH. RC time was different between PH subgroups, challenging RC time constancy. Trial registration number NCT04071327

Baseline natriuretic peptides as a predictor of atrial fibrillation recurrence after radiofrequency ‐based pulmonary vein isolation in a non‐heart failure population: A subanalysis from DECAAF II
ConclusionIn the non-heart failure population, BNP levels predict AF recurrence following PVI in persistent AF patients.

Determinants of self-rated health among elderly patients with hypertension: a cross-sectional analysis based on the Chinese longitudinal healthy longevity survey
CONCLUSION: The findings of this study provide evidence for the need to develop effective health promotion programs for the well-being of hypertensive patients.PMID:37337961 | DOI:10.1080/10641963.2023.2224942

Association of cervical atherosclerosis on Doppler ultrasonography and postoperative delirium in patients undergoing spinal surgery: a single-center, retrospective, observational study
CONCLUSIONS: There was a significant association between POD and the prevalence of cervical atherosclerosis using the univariate logistic regression analysis. Furthermore, multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that older age and antiplatelet agent use were independently associated with POD.PMID:37326838 | DOI:10.1007/s00586-023-07823-0

Differential Impact of Clinical Factors for Predicting High Platelet Reactivity on Clinical Outcomes in Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients Treated With Clopidogrel and Prasugrel
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical factors listed in the HHD-GENE score may help stratify ischemic risks in patients with acute MI treated with clopidogrel and prasugrel, whereas risk stratification without genetic testing in patients treated with clopidogrel may be challenging.PMID:37316266 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64217
