Carotid artery stenosis, an underestimated cause of stroke recurrence in patients with ischaemic monocular visual loss.
CONCLUSIONS: Carotid stenosis ≥ 50% is present in patients with ocular ischaemia in approximately 20% of those with persistent visual loss and in 10% with transient visual loss. Those with carotid stenosis have a higher risk of stroke recurrence and should be considered urgent surgical intervention as other forms of stroke. PMID: 31155910 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Pneumatosis and portal venous gas: do CT findings reassure?
Conclusions: Older age, peritoneal signs, and high BUN are associated with I/N, suggesting an ability to predict which patients need operation. CT findings traditionally suggestive of ischemic PN/PVG, however, do not diagnose I/N accurately enough to reliably identify patients needing operation.

Pheochromocytoma crisis resulting in acute heart failure and cardioembolic stroke in a 37-year-old man
A previously healthy, 37-year-old man presented to his primary care physician with new-onset hypertension, cough, and dyspnea. He was initially diagnosed with asthma and was treated with inhalation corticosteroids. Despite treatment, his symptoms worsened over a 3-month period. Although previously athletic, he developed exercise intolerance, orthopnea, and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea. His symptoms prompted admission to a community hospital to rule out pulmonary embolism. Contrast computed tomography of the chest instead demonstrated a 5.3 × 4.8-cm left adrenal tumor ().

Hypertension, acute stent thrombosis and paraplegia 6 months after TEVAR for blunt thoracic aortic injury in a 22 year old patient
TEVAR is a less invasive option for managing traumatic injuries of the descending aorta in polytraumatized patients. Concerns arise when treating young patients with TEVAR.A 22-year old male was admitted to the Emergency Department following a high-impact road traffic collision. Whole body CT scan documented multiple injuries, including rupture of descending thoracic aorta just below the isthmus. There was no evidence of paraplegia or stroke. We decided to treat him in an endovascular fashion with a Zenith Cook (Cook Incorporated, Bloomington, IN) endograft.

Intraoperative cone beam computed tomography-guided endovascular recanalization of an interrupted aorta
We report a case of real-time image-guided endovascular repair to highlight the value of preprocedural planning and intraprocedural cone beam computed tomography. Two-dimensional fluoroscopy enhanced with three-dimensional landmarks from cone beam computed tomography was used to direct a Nykanen radiofrequency wire (Baylis Medical, Montreal, Quebec, Canada) through the interruption, avoiding critical adjacent structures.
