Screening Serum Biomarkers for Rats Preconditioned with Hyperbaric Oxygen: Potential of Predicting Prognosis for Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Haemopexin may be developed as a predictive biomarker that indicated the effectiveness of a preconditioning strategy against cerebral ischaemic injury.PMID:37519161 | DOI:10.31083/j.jin2204103

Case report: Bilateral sudden deafness in acute middle cerebellar peduncle infarction: central or peripheral?
CONCLUSION: Vertebrobasilar diseases due to atherosclerosis should be routinely considered in middle-aged and elderly patients with vascular risk factors and bilateral hearing loss. Bilateral SSNHL can be a prodrome of acute MCP infarction and it can be peripheral. Brain MRI, brain magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA), brain and neck computed tomography angiography (CTA), BAEP, otoacoustic emissions, and Pure Tone Audiogram help to localize and qualify the diagnosis. Bilateral SSNHL localized to the periphery usually improves better and has a good prognosis. Early detection of hearing loss and intervention can help patients ...

An overview of hyperbaric oxygen preconditioning against ischemic stroke
This study comprehensively reviewed the pathophysiology of IS and revealed the underlying mechanism of HBO-PC in protection against IS. The preventive effects of HBO-PC against IS may include inducing antioxidant, anti-inflammation, and anti-apoptosis capacity; activating autophagy and immune responses; upregulating heat shock proteins, hypoxia-inducible factor-1, and erythropoietin; and exerting protective effects upon the blood-brain barrier. In addition, HBO-PC may be considered a safe and effective method to prevent IS in combination with stem cell therapy. Although the benefits of HBO-PC on IS have been widely observe...

The Efficacy of Needle-Warming Moxibustion Combined with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Ischemic Stroke and Its Effect on Neurological Function
CONCLUSIONS: NWM combined with HBOT is effective in the treatment of patients with ischemic stroke, which can not only improve patients' neurological function, ADL, and balance ability but also inhibit serum inflammatory reactions.PMID:35237338 | PMC:PMC8885239 | DOI:10.1155/2022/2204981

The Effect of Hyperoxemia on Neurological Outcomes of Adult Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
AbstractHyperoxemia commonly occurs in clinical practice and is often left untreated. Many studies have shown increased mortality in patients with hyperoxemia, but data on neurological outcome in these patients are conflicting, despite worsened neurological outcome found in preclinical studies. To investigate the association between hyperoxemia and neurological outcome in adult patients, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and ClinicalTrials.gov from inception to May 2020 f...
