Perioperative Red Blood Cell Transfusion Is Associated With Adverse Cardiovascular Outcomes in Heart Valve Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: In the analysis of the national cohort, perioperative RBC transfusion during heart valve surgery was associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes correlated with the volume of RBC transfusion.PMID:36730895 | DOI:10.1213/ANE.0000000000006245

Cardiovascular Outcomes according to Comorbidities and Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol in Korean People with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
CONCLUSION: For primary prevention of CVD in Korean adults with T2DM, it can be helpful to lower LDL-C targets when there are chronic kidney disease, HT, a long duration of diabetes mellitus, or three or more CV risk factors.PMID:36727163 | DOI:10.4093/dmj.2021.0344

Long-term stroke and major bleeding risk in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation: A comparative analysis between non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants and warfarin using a clinical data warehouse
ConclusionsIn this CDW based study, NOACs are more effective and safer than warfarin in patients with AF even with long-term follow-up. NOACs should be used to prevent ischemic stroke in patients with AF

Estimation and predictors of direct hospitalisation expenses and in-hospital mortality for patients who had a stroke in a low-middle income country: evidence from a nationwide cross-sectional study in Iranian hospitals
Conclusion Applying cost-effective stroke prevention strategies among the younger population (≤49 years old) is strongly recommended. Migration to universal health insurance can effectively reduce the inequality gap among all insured patients.

Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Korean Congenital Heart Disease Patients: A Nationwide Age- and Sex-Matched Case-Control Study
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, this nationwide study demonstrates that Korean patients with CHD have a high incidence of comorbidities, vascular events, and mortality. CHD has been established as an important predictor of cardiovascular events. Further studies are warranted to identify high-risk patients with CHD and related factors to prevent vascular events.PMID:36444542 | PMC:PMC9760894 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.0111

Sex differences in stroke mortality in Thailand  : A National cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to men, women were older at time of stroke-diagnosis and had higher burden of stroke risk-factors. Women also had higher mortality after stroke regardless of stroke-type or duration since stroke-onset. Post-IS, excess stroke-mortality in women was greatest during the in-hospital period, whereas excess stroke-mortality increased with time in women who had HS. No clear relationship was found between duration since stroke-onset and mortality in patients who had SUT.PMID:36435621 | DOI:10.1016/j.ancard.2022.11.003
