Emergency Medical Services Prenotification is Associated with Reduced Odds of In-Hospital Mortality in Stroke Patients
Conclusions: Prenotification by EMS was associated with reduced in-hospital mortality for patients with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack. These findings add to the large body of literature demonstrating the key role of EMS in the stroke systems of care. Our study underscores the importance of standardizing prehospital screening and triage, increasing rates of prenotification via feedback and education, and encouraging active collaborations between prehospital personnel and stroke-capable hospitals to increase in-hospital survival among patients with stroke and transient ischemic attack.PMID:35583481 | DOI:10.1...

ConclusionThe G allele of rs17817449 at the FTO, not rs6567160 at the MC4R, was associated with a decreased risk of fatal stroke occurrence; its functional role in stroke should be explored in relatively healthy middle-aged to older Chinese people.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on acute stroke care: An analysis of the 24-month data from a comprehensive stroke center in Shanghai, China
CONCLUSIONS: During the 24 months of COVID-19, a prolongation of stroke onset to hospital arrival and to intravenous rt-PA administration times were noted. Meanwhile, acute stroke patients needed to stay in the ED for a longer time before hospitalization. Importance of Retesting for the Final Diagnosis of Post-Stroke Cognitive Impairment
Conclusions: We established the prevalence of CogI and its course after 6 months in a well-defined group of patients after a mild ischaemic stroke (mean NIHSS: 2 and mean mRS: 1 at the discharge). Our results show that the prevalence of CogI after an ischaemic stroke at discharge is relatively high (74%), and it tends to be a spontaneous reduction. Cognitive functions were changed in 35% of patients. The definition of PSCI was completed in only 24% of individuals. Only an examination several months after a stroke can give us more accurate information about the true prevalence of persistent CogI after a stroke.PMID:36984638...
