Relationship Between Standardized Measures of Chronic Kidney Disease-associated Pruritus Intensity and Health-related Quality of Life Measured with the EQ-5D Questionnaire: A Mapping Study
Acta Derm Venereol. 2023 Sep 20;103:adv11604. doi: 10.2340/actadv.v103.11604.ABSTRACTChronic kidney disease-associated pruritus is linked with decreased health-related quality of life assessed using disease-specific instruments. The extent to which worsening pruritus reduces generic quality of life assessed using the EQ-5D instrument is unknown. Prevalent kidney failure patients receiving in-centre haemodialysis from 5 centres completed the EQ-5D-5L quality of life measure, worst Itching Intensity Numerical Rating Scale and 5-D itch pruritus instruments. Latent class models were used to identify clusters of patients with s...

Physician Preferences when Selecting Candidates for Lower-Quality Kidney Offers
CONCLUSIONS: Physicians appear to consider the recipient characteristics that inform expected post-transplant survival score when deciding whether to accept a marginal kidney for a given recipient.PMID:37729938 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000302

Interventions for fatigue in people with kidney failure requiring dialysis
CONCLUSIONS: Exercise, aromatherapy, massage and acupressure may improve fatigue compared to placebo, standard care or no intervention. Pharmacological and other non-pharmacological interventions had uncertain effects on fatigue or fatigue-related outcomes in people receiving dialysis. Future adequately powered, high-quality studies are likely to change the estimated effects of interventions for fatigue and fatigue-related outcomes in people receiving dialysis.PMID:37651553 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD013074.pub2

REIN: a tool for the benefit of renal transplantation
Nephrol Ther. 2023 Aug 28;18(S2):40-45. doi: 10.1016/S1769-7255(22)00566-1.ABSTRACTOn the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue of access to renal transplantation for ESKD patients, the following key messages were retained. The registry of the REIN includes data about kidney transplant and dialysis. It thus allows evaluating the access to kidney transplant in France based on the needs of the population with stage 5 CKD treated by renal replacement therapy. The da...

Incidence of End Stage Kidney Disease and context of dialysis initiation
Nephrol Ther. 2023 Aug 28;18(S2):19-24. doi: 10.1016/S1769-7255(22)00562-4.ABSTRACTOn the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue of ESKD incidence, the following key messages were retained. Thanks to several studies conducted using data from the REIN registry, the spatial variations of incidence of stage 5 chronic kidney disease in the replacement stage could be explained, in part, by the health condition of the general population as well as by the socio-economic ...
