Transient left bundle branch block associated with very high coronary artery calcium: a case report
We present a case of very high CAC in a 64-year-old woman with hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and hyperlipidemia presenting with dyspnea. Initial electrocardiogram (ECG) demonstrated normal conduction with a heart rate of 76 beats/min, but new T-wave inversions in V1-V4 and a high-sensitivity troponin-I (hsTnI) value of 6 ng/L (normal < 6 ng/L). Repeat ECG in the emergency department showed normal sinus rhythm (heart rate of 80 beats/min); however, it subsequently demonstrated a left bundle branch block (LBBB) with a repeat hsTnI of 7 ng/L. Stress testing with pharmacologic single-photon emission computerized tomography...

Effect of oral versus parenteral vitamin D3 supplementation on nuclear factor- κB and platelet aggregation in type 2 diabetic patients
In conclusion, restoring normal levels of vitamin D is an important determinant to maintain normal platelet function and reduce inflammation. Nevertheless, further long-term studies are still needed.PMID:37721213 | DOI:10.1139/cjpp-2022-0359

Molecular docking analysis of calcium channel blockers with ALR2 and RAGE
We report that 1, 4-dihydropyridine compounds, particularly Benidipine, bind to the active sites with good efficiency. Thus, 1,4 dihydropyridine derivatives can be considered for further confirmation in drug discovery.PMID:37720280 | PMC:PMC10504517 | DOI:10.6026/97320630019028

Model-Informed Dosing Regimen of Ticagrelor in Chinese Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome
Clin Pharmacol Ther. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.1002/cpt.3048. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe exposure to ticagrelor is higher in the East Asian population compared to the Caucasian population, thus, East Asians have an increased risk of bleeding. We developed a population pharmacokinetic model of ticagrelor based on a randomized 3 × 3 crossover study in healthy subjects. The area under concentration-time curve (AUC) of Chinese patients with acute coronary syndrome was simulated based on this model. Following this, eight machine learning methods were used to construct bleeding risk models. Variables included in the final ble...

Vascular endothelial growth factor B regulates insulin secretion in β cells of type 2 diabetes mellitus mice via PLCγ and the IP3R‑evoked Ca2 < sup > + < /sup > /CaMK2 signaling pathway
Mol Med Rep. 2023 Oct;28(4):197. doi: 10.3892/mmr.2023.13084. Epub 2023 Sep 8.ABSTRACTVascular endothelial growth factor B (VEGFB) plays a crucial role in glucolipid metabolism and is highly associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The role of VEGFB in the insulin secretion of β cells remains unverified. Thus, the present study aimed to discuss the effect of VEGFB on regulating insulin secretion in T2DM development, and its underlying mechanism. A high‑fat diet and streptozocin (STZ) were used for inducing T2DM in mice model, and VEGFB gene in islet cells of T2DM mice was knocked out by CRISPR Cas9 and overexpre...

Malignant hypercalcemia revealing a diffuse large B ‐cell lymphoma in a patient with a previous diagnosis of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia: An uncommon hematological coexistence
Key Clinical MessageA 76-year-old patient previously admitted to the cardiology department for replacement of a right ventricular lead on a double-chamber pacemaker was admitted to the internal medicine department 15  days after for bronchopneumopathy. His past medical history was relevant for Type 2 diabetes mellitus, heart failure due to dilated hypokinetic heart disease, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML-0) diagnosed in 2021. Twenty-four hours after ad mission, the patient's general condition deteriorated abruptly, with the onset of drowsiness and psychomotor ret...

Role of RIPK3 ‑CaMKII‑mPTP signaling pathway‑mediated necroptosis in cardiovascular diseases (Review)
Int J Mol Med. 2023 Oct;52(4):98. doi: 10.3892/ijmm.2023.5301. Epub 2023 Sep 1.ABSTRACTNecroptosis, which is distinct from apoptosis and necrosis, serves a crucial role in ontogeny and the maintenance of homeostasis. In the last decade, it has been demonstrated that the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases is also linked to necroptosis. Receptor interaction protein kinase (RIPK) 1, RIPK3 and mixed lineage kinase domain‑like protein serve vital roles in necroptosis. In addition to the aforementioned necroptosis‑related components, calcium/calmodulin‑dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) has been identified as a nove...
