Multimodal Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Therapeutic Intervention With Yi-nao-jie-yu Decoction in a Rat Model of Post-stroke Depression
Post-stroke depression (PSD) is the most common neuropsychiatric complication after a stroke, though its neuropathological characteristics have not been fully elucidated. Comprehensive and non-invasive magnetic resonance (MR) assessment techniques are urgently needed for current research, as diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), arterial spin labeling (ASL), and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can allow for a comprehensive assessment of neuropathological changes in the brain. These techniques can provide information about microscopic tissue integrity, cerebral perfusion, and cerebral metabolism, and can serve as powerful t...

Therapeutic effect of Chinese herbal medicines for post-stroke depression: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of combination of CHM with routine western medicines versus routine western medicines alone in patients with post-stroke depression (PSD). Methods: Electronic databases such as PubMed, EmBase, Cochrane library, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure were systematically searched from inception till October 2019. Studies designed as randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and that investigated the therapeutic effects of CHM plus routine western medicines (CHM group) versus routine western medicines alone (control group) in PSD patients were eligible. The relative ris...

Does acupuncture combined with antidepressants have a better therapeutic effect on post-stroke depression? A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Acupuncture combined with antidepressants showed a more favourable effect on the treatment of PSD than antidepressants alone. However, given the limited methodological quality, more high-quality RCTs conducted based on the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) and Standards for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials of Acupuncture (STRICTA) guidelines are necessary.PMID:33334118 | DOI:10.1177/0964528420967675

Jiedu Tongluo Granules Ameliorates Post-stroke Depression Rat Model via Regulating NMDAR/BDNF Signaling Pathway
Post-stroke depression (PSD) is one of the most common stroke complications, which seriously affects stroke’s therapeutic effect and brings great pain for patients. The pathological mechanism of PSD has not been revealed. Jiedu Tongluo granules (JDTLG) is an effective traditional Chinese medicine for PSD treatment which is widely used in clinical treatment. JDTLG has a significant therapeutic effect against PSD, but the mechanism is still unclear. The PSD rat model was established by carotid artery embolization combined with chronic sleep deprivation followed by treating with JDTLG. Neurobehavioral and neurofunctional ex...

Efficacy of frequently-used acupuncture methods for specific parts and conventional pharmaceutical interventions in treating post-stroke depression patients: A network meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: 12 acupuncture methods may be effective and safe in improving the condition of patients with PSD. Higher quality randomized controlled trials need sufficient evidence because the overall quality of included trials can only be classified as low quality. This study is registered with PROSPERO (CRD42020177099).PMID:34371213 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctcp.2021.101471

Efficacy and Tolerability of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors on Promoting Motor Recovery After Stroke:Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
CONCLUSIONS: SSRIs are effective and well-tolerated to promote motor recovery after stroke, but may increase the risk of seizures and gastrointestinal adverse effects.PMID:34538154 | DOI:10.1080/14737175.2021.1982696
