Evaluations of memory, anxiety, and the growth factor IGF-1R after post-surgical menopause treatment with a highly selective progestin
Behav Brain Res. 2023 Apr 19:114442. doi: 10.1016/j.bbr.2023.114442. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTProgestogens are a key component of menopausal hormone therapies. While some progestogens can be detrimental to cognition, there is preclinical evidence that progestogens with a strong progesterone-receptor affinity benefit some molecular mechanisms believed to underlie cognitive function. Thus, a progestin that maximizes progesterone-receptor affinity and minimizes affinities to other receptors may be cognitively beneficial. We evaluated segesterone-acetate (SGA), a 19-norprogesterone derivative with a strong progesterone-re...

Lifestyle and personal factors associated with having macroscopic residual disease after ovarian cancer primary cytoreductive surgery
CONCLUSIONS: The association between ET and having no macroscopic residual disease is plausible given a strong underlying biologic hypothesis between this exposure and diagnosis with HGSC. If this or the parity finding is replicated, these factors could be included in risk stratification models to determine whether HGSC patients should receive PCS or neoadjuvant chemotherapy.PMID:36401943 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2022.10.018

Hormonal drugs for the treatment of endometriosis
Curr Opin Pharmacol. 2022 Oct 20;67:102311. doi: 10.1016/j.coph.2022.102311. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn the past, the primary approach for the treatment of endometriosis was represented by surgery; however, after the introduction of non-invasive diagnosis of endometriosis with the development of imaging technologies, medical treatment became the preferred approach, particularly in young patients. Hormonal drugs, by blocking menstruation, are the most effective for the treatment of endometriosis-related pain, independently of phenotype (ovarian, deep, or superficial endometriosis). Gonadotropin-releasing hormone analo...
