BPS-induced ovarian dysfunction: Protective actions of melatonin via modulation of SIRT-1/Nrf2/NF ĸB and IR/PI3K/pAkt/GLUT-4 expressions in adult golden hamster
In conclusion, we found severe deleterious impact of BPS on ovary while melatonin treatment protected ovarian physiology from these detrimental changes suggesting it to be a potential preemptive candidate against environmental toxicant-compromised female reproductive health. Protective effects of melatonin against the toxic effects of environmental pollutants and heavy metals on testicular tissue: A systematic review and meta-analysis of animal studies
ConclusionIn conclusion, our study demonstrated amelioration of testicular histopathological characteristics, reproductive hormonal panel, and tissue markers of oxidative stress. Melatonin deserves scientific attention as a potential therapeutic agent for male infertility.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO, identifier CRD42022369872.

Melatonin effective to reduce the microscopic symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome-related infertility: An experimental study
In this study, the possible effects of exogenously administrated melatonin on melatonin (MT1) receptor, Growth Differentiation Factor-9 (GDF9), and Bone Morphogenetic Protein-15 (BMP15) in experimental PCOS were investigated. Thirty-two 6-8-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 8 in each) as Sham control (Group 1), Melatonin (Group 2), PCOS (Group 3), and PCOS + Melatonin (Group 4) groups. At the end of the 21st day, the experiment was terminated, the ovary tissues were taken, and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining, MT1, GDF9, BMP15 immunohistochemical labeling, western blot, and quantitative rea...

A systematic review on the role of melatonin and its mechanisms on diabetes-related reproductive impairment in non-clinical studies
ConclusionMelatonin exerted a protective action on the impaired reproductive system in in-vivo and in-vitro models of DM. The topic has to be followed up in human pregnancy cases that will need more time to be collected and approved.

Application of Nanoparticles and Melatonin for Cryopreservation of Gametes and Embryos
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2022 Sep 5;44(9):4028-4044. doi: 10.3390/cimb44090276.ABSTRACTCryopreservation of gametes and embryos, a technique widely applied in human infertility clinics and to preserve desirable genetic traits of livestock, has been developed over 30 years as a component of the artificial insemination process. A number of researchers have conducted studies to reduce cell toxicity during cryopreservation using adjuvants leading to higher gamete and embryo survival rates. Melatonin and Nanoparticles are novel cryoprotectants and recent studies have investigated their properties such as regulating oxidative stress...
