Blood Flow Energy Identifies Coronary Lesions Culprit of Future Myocardial Infarction
Ann Biomed Eng. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.1007/s10439-023-03362-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study establishes a link between blood flow energy transformations in coronary atherosclerotic lesions and clinical outcomes. The predictive capacity for future myocardial infarction (MI) was compared with that of established quantitative coronary angiography (QCA)-derived predictors. Angiography-based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations were performed on 80 human coronary lesions culprit of MI within 5 years and 108 non-culprit lesions for future MI. Blood flow energy transformations were assessed in the conv...

Smoking, immunity, and cardiovascular prognosis: a study of plasma IgE concentration in patients with acute myocardial infarction
CONCLUSION: Cotinine exhibits a positive association with AMI, wherein IgE plays a mediating role. Elevated plasma levels of IgE was positively associated with AMI and poor prognosis, which further confirms the adverse role of smoking on the incidence of AMI and prognosis. Characteristics of Premature Myocardial Infarction Among Women With Prior Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Among women with premature MIs, 39% had a history of an APO. Women with APO history presented sooner after pregnancy but had similar MI characteristics vs those without APOs. Pregnancy history may identify women who warrant early, aggressive cardiovascular disease prevention.PMID:37694271 | PMC:PMC10487279 | DOI:10.1016/j.jacadv.2023.100411

Aircraft noise exposure and risk for recurrent cardiovascular events after acute coronary syndrome: A prospective patient cohort study
Environ Res. 2023 Sep 8:117108. doi: 10.1016/j.envres.2023.117108. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn several population based cohort studies associations between aircraft noise and various diagnoses of cardiovascular disease were observed. However, no study has yet addressed the risk of recurrences in relation to transportation noise in patients with acute coronary heart disease. We conducted a prospective patient cohort study of 737 individuals recruited from eleven cardiac centers in the Rhine-Main region in the vicinity of Frankfurt Airport. All patients had an angiographically confirmed acute coronary syndrome diagnosed...

Tachycardie ventriculaire r écidivante révélant une sarcoïdose cardiaque: Cardiac sarcoidosis revealed by recurrent ventricular tachycardia
We report here the case of a young woman with cardiac sarcoidosis of difficult diagnosis, revealed by a myocardial infarction with normal coronary angiography and recurrent ventricular tachycardia. Multimodal imaging, combined with left ventricular endomyocardial biopsies guided by electrophysiological analysis and endocavitary mapping, finally confirmed the diagnosis, and allowed effective medical treatment.PMID:37677913 | DOI:10.1016/j.ancard.2023.101644

Thyroid Functions Are Associated with All-Cause Long-Term Mortality in Elderly Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
CONCLUSION: In our study, subclinical values in thyroid functions were found to be associated with increased mortality, apart from known factors in elderly patients who underwent primary PTCA with the diagnosis of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.PMID:37671518 | DOI:10.5543/tkda.2023.53389
