The revascularization of the left subclavian artery with a cross over axilloaxillary bypass for the hybrid repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms
CONCLUSION: The risk of stroke, spinal cord ischemia, and upper extremity ischemia are found higher in the patients who underwent coverage of the left subclavian artery without revascularization. The axilloaxillary bypass grafting may be performed in the patients with high risk to prevent carotid artery manipulation and clamping during carotid-subclavian bypass with long term promising patency rates.PMID:35120094 | DOI:10.24875/CIRU.21000013

Arterial Atherosclerosis: Vascular Surgery Interventions
Am Fam Physician. 2022 Jan 1;105(1):65-72.ABSTRACTAtherosclerotic vascular disease is a leading cause of death worldwide. Atherosclerotic stenosis of the internal carotid or intracranial arteries causes up to 15% of strokes. Peripheral artery disease affects up to one in five people in the United States who are 60 years and older and nearly one-half of those who are 85 years and older. Renal artery stenosis may affect up to 5% of people with isolated hypertension and up to 40% of people with other atherosclerotic diseases. All patients with atherosclerotic vascular disease should receive a comprehensive program of guidelin...

Effectiveness of Proximal Landing Zones 0, 1, and 2 Hybrid Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair: A Single Centre 12 Year Experience
CONCLUSION: Satisfactory early and long term results of hybrid arch repair at zones 0, 1, and 2 were achieved. To avoid complications and aortic events, the treatment strategy of hybrid arch repair for aortic arch pathologies should be tailored using accurate pre-operative assessment of the ascending aorta and the aortic arch.PMID:34916108 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.10.043

Midterm Outcomes of an Adjustable Puncture Device for In Situ Fenestration During Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair
CONCLUSION: In this largest mechanical based ISF study to date, an adjustable puncture device was shown to facilitate the procedure of ISF during endovascular repair of aortic diseases involving the aortic arch, with high success. The midterm outcome demonstrates the efficacy and safety of the device in assisting with preservation of aortic arch branches.PMID:34750032 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.09.028

Association Between Hospital Volume and Failure to Rescue After Open or Endovascular Repair of Intact Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms in the VASCUNET and International Consortium of Vascular Registries
Objective: To investigate the association between hospital volume and failure to rescue (FtR), after open repair (OAR), and endovascular repair (EVAR) of intact abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) among centers participating in the VASCUNET and International Consortium of Vascular Registries. Summary of Background Data: FtR (ie, in-hospital death following major complications) is a composite end-point representing the inability to treat complications effectively and prevent death. Methods: Using data from 8 vascular registries, complication and mortality rates after intact AAA repair were examined (n = 60,27...
