Maternal apparent temperature during pregnancy on the risk of offspring asthma and wheezing: effect, critical window, and modifiers
The objective of this study was to explore the impact of maternal AT during pregnancy on childhood asthma and wheezing, as well as the potential effect modifiers in this association. A cross-sectional study was implemented from December 2018 to March 2019 in Jinan to investigate the prevalence of childhood asthma and wheezing among aged 18 months to 3 years. Then, we conducted a case-control study based on population to explore the association between prenatal different AT exposure levels and childhood asthma and wheezing. The association was assessed by generalized additive models and logistic regression models, and strat...

The Role of IL-13 and the Type 2 Immune Pathway in COVID-19: A Review
Ann Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2023 Mar 14:S1081-1206(23)00172-2. doi: 10.1016/j.anai.2023.03.009. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWhile much has been learned about SARS-CoV-2 since December of 2019, uneven global vaccine distribution, rapid viral spread and variant evasion of preventative measures has led to its persistence in the population for the foreseeable future. Additional therapies are needed to support patients through their acute, immune-mediated disease process that continues to lead to significant morbidity and mortality. Data demonstrating the involvement of type 2 immune pathway in acute COVID-19 and post recover...

Epidemiological situation of SARS-CoV-2 infection in Douala, the most populated and highly heterogeneous town of Cameroon: a post-vaccination update
This study aimed at providing an update of SARS-CoV-2 epidemiology in Douala, the most populated and highly heterogeneous town of Cameroon. A hospital-based cross sectional study was conducted from January to September 2022. A questionnaire was used to collect sociodemographic, anthropometric, and clinical data. Retrotranscriptase quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to detect SARS-CoV-2 in nasopharyngeal samples. Of the 2354 individuals approached, 420 were included. The mean age of patients was 42.3 ± 14.4 years (range 21 - 82). The prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection was 8.1%. The risk of infection with SARS-...
