Timeliness of Care for High Acuity Conditions at Hospital-Affiliated Freestanding Emergency Departments.
CONCLUSIONS: FREDs provided more timely care than HEDs for visits with asthma exacerbation and less timely care for acute chest pain, stroke, and sepsis, although absolute differences were small. Conclusion Neurological involvement is a common complication of PSV (Table 1), and neurologists play an important role in the identification and diagnosis of PSV patients with otherwise unexplained neurological symptoms as their chief complaint. Pheochromocytoma crisis resulting in acute heart failure and cardioembolic stroke in a 37-year-old man
A previously healthy, 37-year-old man presented to his primary care physician with new-onset hypertension, cough, and dyspnea. He was initially diagnosed with asthma and was treated with inhalation corticosteroids. Despite treatment, his symptoms worsened over a 3-month period. Although previously athletic, he developed exercise intolerance, orthopnea, and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea. His symptoms prompted admission to a community hospital to rule out pulmonary embolism. Contrast computed tomography of the chest instead demonstrated a 5.3 × 4.8-cm left adrenal tumor ().
