Cancer screening and management in the transgender population: Review of literature and special considerations for gender affirmation surgery
CONCLUSION: When assessing transgender individuals for GAS, a discussion on the future oncologic risk of the sex-specific organs remaining in situ is essential. Cancer management in this population requires a multidisciplinary approach while the care should be highly individualized with considerations to social, medical, surgical and gender affirming surgery related specifications. Special considerations have to be made during planning for GAS as surgery will alter the anatomy and may render the organ difficult to sample for screening purposes. A discussion with the patient regarding the oncologic risk of remaining organs ...

Impact of exercise on continence in prostate cancer patients post robotic assisted radical prostatectomy: a systematic review
CONCLUSION: Pelvic floor muscle training, with or without adjunct therapies, results in improved continence outcomes post RALP. Supervised training programs may or may not accelerate this finding. There is no recent literature to support or refute the benefit of aerobic exercise or resistance training on reducing post-prostatectomy incontinence after RALP.PMID:37645610 | PMC:PMC10461030

An updated meta-analysis of XRCC4 polymorphisms and cancer risk based on 31 case-control studies.
Conclusions: We conducted a systematic search and combined the available results in this meta-analysis, which provided evidence of the associations between SNPs in XRCC4 and cancer risk. The results suggested that rs28360071 polymorphisms were significantly associated with cancer risk. However, future studies are needed to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying the biological functions of XRCC4 SNPs in cancer development. PMID: 23321468 [PubMed - in process]

Statins and prostate cancer recurrence following radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions Our meta-analysis suggests a potentially beneficial effect of statins on prostate cancer patients treated with RT but not among radical prostatectomy patients. Although limited by the lack of randomized data, these results suggest that primary treatment modality should be considered in future studies examining associations between statins and oncologic outcomes.

Thirty years of research on infection and prostate cancer: No conclusive evidence for a link. A systematic review
Conclusions: The role of infection in the etiology of CaP has yet to be determined despite 30 years of research efforts. A discovery of an infectious agent that is associated with CaP would be of great medical importance; however, such a link would have to be firmly established before impacting on patient care.

Measuring health-related quality of life in men with prostate cancer: A systematic review of the most used questionnaires and their validity.
CONCLUSIONS: Considering the psychometric properties, we advise to use the SF-12 as a generic instrument, the Cancer Rehabilitation Evaluation System-SF or the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General as cancer-specific HRQoL instruments, and the University of California-Los Angeles Prostate Cancer Index, the QUFW94, or the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Prostate as prostate cancer-specific instruments.
