Suppression of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal function by linzagolix in benign prostatic hyperplasia and polycystic ovary syndrome animal models
Clin Exp Pharmacol Physiol. 2023 Aug 25. doi: 10.1111/1440-1681.13817. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis is an important regulatory mechanism involved primarily in the development and regulation of the reproductive systems. The suppression of the HPG axis by gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues is expected to be effective for the treatment of sex hormone-dependent diseases, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroid, prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Despite the established involvement of GnRH signalling in these disord...

Poly-l-glutamic acid modification modulates the bio-nano interface of a therapeutic anti-IGF-1R antibody in prostate cancer
Biomaterials. 2023 Aug 14;301:122280. doi: 10.1016/j.biomaterials.2023.122280. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTModifying biological agents with polymers such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) has demonstrated clinical benefits; however, post-market surveillance of PEGylated derivatives has revealed PEG-associated toxicity issues, prompting the search for alternatives. We explore how conjugating a poly-l-glutamic acid (PGA) to an anti-insulin growth factor 1 receptor antibody (AVE1642) modulates the bio-nano interface and anti-tumor activity in preclinical prostate cancer models. Native and PGA-modified AVE1642 display similar ant...

Early-Life Exposure to Lipopolysaccharide Induces Persistent Changes in Gene Expression Profiles in the Liver and Spleen of Female FVB/N Mice
The objective of this study was to investigate how subcutaneous (sc) lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration affects the gene expression profiles of insulin signaling as well as innate and adaptive immunity genes in mouse livers and spleens. FVB/N female mice were randomly assigned to one of two treatment groups at 5 weeks of age: (1) a six-week subcutaneous injection of saline at 11 μL/h (control-CON), or (2) a six-week subcutaneous injection of LPS from Escherichia coli 0111:B4 at 0.1 μg/g body weight at 11 μL/h. At 106 weeks (i.e., 742 days) after the last treatment, mice were euthanized. Following euthanasia, liver ...

An overview of recent findings that shed light on the connection between fat and cancer
Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets. 2023 Jul 24. doi: 10.2174/1871530323666230724141942. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTObesity and cancer have been found to have a direct link in epidemiological studies. Obesity raises the risk of cancer and associated chronic disorders. Furthermore, an imbalance of adipokines, like leptins, plays a crucial role in neoplasm pathogenesis, cell migration, and thereby, cancer metastasis. Also, leptin increases human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) protein levels through the STAT3-mediated (signal transducer and activator of transcription) upregulation of heat shock protein (Hsp...
