Necrotizing pneumonia due to Aspergillus and Salmonella after immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment: An unusual case and review of the literature
CONCLUSIONS: Awareness of unusual pathogens in the etiology of pneumonia after ICI treatment may help to avoid underdiagnosis.PMID:37714729 | DOI:10.1016/j.riam.2023.05.001

Clinical improvement in early onset interstitial lung disease using rituximab in children with anti-MDA5 positive juvenile dermatomyositis
CONCLUSION: This is the first study to examine the use of RTX in children with JDM and anti-MDA5 antibodies, with notable improvements ILD, cutaneous and musculoskeletal manifestations. Further studies are needed to better understand the efficacy of RTX on JDM disease related complications.PMID:37714547 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2023-0544

Machine-Learning-Aided Prediction of Brain Metastases Development in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancers
CONCLUSION: Analysis of the importance of input features suggests that the models are learning the relevant relationships between clinical features/development of BM. A higher number of samples is to be prioritized to improve performance. Employed prospectively at initial diagnosis, such models can help select high-risk subgroups for surveillance brain MRI.PMID:37689579 | DOI:10.1016/j.cllc.2023.08.002

Exploring the potential of photodynamic therapy in the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer: Analysis of two clinical cases
This article presents two cases of non-melanoma skin cancer treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT). The first case involved a 74-year-old woman with a 4 cm basal cell carcinoma on her right zygomatic region, while the second case involved a 83-year-old woman with a 6 cm squamous cell carcinoma on her left peri-auricular area. Both patients underwent two sessions of systemic PDT, with chlorin E6 (Photoran) as the photosensitizer, followed by red light illumination. The treatment was well-tolerated with no significant adverse effects. Each three months, the patients showed clinical improvement with partial to complete regre...

Pre-existing Interstitial Lung Abnormalities and Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Related Pneumonitis in Solid Tumors: A Retrospective Analysis
CONCLUSION: This retrospective study did not demonstrate statistically significant association between pre-existing ILA and ICI-related pneumonitis, nor an association between radiologic features of ILA and ICI-related pneumonitis. Smoking history was independently associated with ICI-related pneumonitis. Further research is warranted for further understanding of the risk factors of ICI-related pneumonitis.PMID:37590388 | DOI:10.1093/oncolo/oyad187
