Acute liver failure following immune checkpoint inhibitors
We report the case of a 64-year-old man admitted to intensive care unit for liver failure secondary to immune-mediated hepatitis. This patient suffered from a progressing laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. A treatment was started with immune checkpoint inhibitors combining anti PD-L1 plus novel anti-TIGIT or placebo (ATEZOLIZUMAB plus TIRAGOLUMAB or placebo), as part of a clinical trial. The patient then developed immune-mediated hepatitis, proven by liver biopsy. Despite 14 days of corticosteroids at 2 mg/kg the condition of the patient worsened, with the development of liver failure. The patient was admitted to intensive...

Immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced neurotoxicity is not associated with seroprevalence of neurotropic infections
CONCLUSION: Previous viral, bacterial and protozoal neurotropic infections appear not to be associated with the development of neurological irAEs in melanoma patients who underwent therapy with ICI across 3 countries. Further efforts are needed to unravel the factors underlying neurological irAEs in order to identify risk factors for these toxicities, especially with the increasing use of ICI in earlier stage disease.PMID:37606856 | DOI:10.1007/s00262-023-03498-0

Biomaterial-based delivery platforms for transdermal immunotherapy
Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 Jun 27;165:115048. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.115048. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNowadays, immunotherapy is one of the most essential treatments for various diseases and a broad spectrum of disorders are assumed to be treated by altering the function of the immune system. For this reason, immunotherapy has attracted a great deal of attention and numerous studies on different approaches for immunotherapies have been investigated, using multiple biomaterials and carriers, from nanoparticles (NPs) to microneedles (MNs). In this review, the immunotherapy strategies, biomaterials, devices, and disea...
