Oral antibiotics for chronic blepharitis
CONCLUSIONS: There was insufficient evidence to draw any meaningful conclusions on the use of oral antibiotics for chronic blepharitis. Very low certainty evidence suggests that oral antibiotics may improve clinical signs, but may cause more adverse events. The evidence for the effect of oral antibiotics on subjective symptoms is very uncertain. Further trials are needed to provide high quality evidence on the use of oral antibiotics in the treatment of chronic blepharitis.PMID:34107053 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD013697.pub2

The Possible Protective Effect of Hepatitis B Vaccine Against Lymphomas: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: Although the literature is still largely lacking regarding the protective effect of anti-HBV vaccination on lymphoma subtypes, the association between HBV infection and lymphoma has been confirmed in several studies. Vaccination programs eliminate the risk of HBV infection and prevent liver disease but can also indirectly reduce the risk of lymphomas.PMID:35049430 | DOI:10.2174/1389201023666220113111946

Mapping evidence on the risk factors associated with pediatric cancers in sub-Saharan Africa: a scoping review
CONCLUSION: The limited evidence on the risk factors coupled with the lack of evidence on the true burden of these malignancies in the SSA hampers efforts to set priorities for childhood cancer control. Formulation of effective preventative (where possible) measures and treatment regimens will need proper assessment of risk factors.PMID:35379332 | DOI:10.1186/s13643-022-01931-6

Use of histone methyltransferase inhibitors in cancer treatment: A systematic review
Eur J Pharmacol. 2023 Feb 10:175590. doi: 10.1016/j.ejphar.2023.175590. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHistone modifications are an epigenetic mechanism, and the dysregulation of these proteins is known to be associated with the initiation and progression of cancer. In the search for the development of new and more effective drugs, histone modifications were identified as possible therapeutic targets. Histone methyltransferase (HMT) inhibitors correspond to the third generation of epigenetic drugs capable of writing or deleting epigenetic information. This systematic review summarized the development and prospect for the us...

SENTIERI - Epidemiological Study of Residents in National Priority Contaminated Sites. Sixth Report
CONCLUSIONS AND PERSPECTIVES: Despite the fact that this is an ecological study, and the excesses of pathologies with multifactorial aetiology can never be mechanically attributed solely to the environmental pressure factors that exist or existed in the areas studied, the ability to identify the excesses found in the contaminated sites investigated by the SENTIERI Project confirms the validity of this method of assessing the site-specific health profile, based on the use of epidemiological evidence to identify pathologies of interest a priori. In interpreting the data and lending robustness to what has been observed, compa...

Association of KIR Genes Polymorphism and its HLA Ligands in Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma
CONCLUSION: With this, we can conclude that the polymorphism of KIR genes and the association with HLA ligands can influence the prognosis of DLBCL, as well as the response to treatment was found. With this, we can conclude that the polymorphism of KIR genes and the association with HLA ligands can influence the prognosis of DLBCL, as well as the response to treatment.Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is a heterogeneous disease, with each subtype associated with different risk factors. Within this group, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) can be highlighted, the most common type of NHL.NK cells are key components of the innate...

Advances in Hodgkin's lymphoma pharmacotherapy: a focus on histone deacetylase inhibitors
Expert Opin Pharmacother. 2023 May 30. doi: 10.1080/14656566.2023.2219392. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Most cases of classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) have excellent cure rates with standard chemotherapy. Yet, for patients with refractory or relapsed (r/r) cHL, prognosis deteriorates as the disease becomes resistant to subsequent treatments, including autologous stem cell transplantation, brentuximab vedotin and checkpoint inhibitors. These novel agents have provided good outcomes for patients who have progressive disease after primary therapy. However, immune escape and drug resistance are hallmarks of Hodg...

A Systematic Review of Cognitive Function, Anxiety, and Depression in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the cognitive functioning, anxiety, and depression of patients with PCNSL can be improved with appropriate treatments. However, patients treated with WBRT are at a higher risk of cognitive decline compared to those receiving other treatment modalities. Therefore, special attention should be given to patients undergoing WBRT, and a comprehensive analysis should be conducted to reduce neurotoxicity and address early cognitive problems in these patients.PMID:37540088 | DOI:10.1177/10998004231190073

Radiation-Induced Carotid Artery Stenosis: What Nurses Need to Know
This article provides an overview of the incidence, risk factors, detection, surveillance, and management of RI-CAS in cancer survivors.METHODS: A literature search was conducted using PubMed®, Embase®, and Web of Science for articles published from January 2008 through June 2022. Search terms included carotid stenosis, radiation therapy, and cancer survivors. This updated review includes content from older references, which serve as a literature-based foundation for the clinical care of cancer survivors at risk for or diagnosed with RI-CAS.FINDINGS: CAS is a long-term sequela of RT to the neck and can lead to serious co...
