The basophil: From control of immunity to control of leukemias
Ann Pharm Fr. 2021 May 27:S0003-4509(21)00074-2. doi: 10.1016/j.pharma.2021.05.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe basophils, first described by Paul Ehlrich in 1879, are rare circulating cells, representing approximately 0.01 to 0.3% of the blood leukocytes. Until recently, these cells have been neglected because of their minority status among immune cells and because they show some similarities to mast cells residing in tissues. However, basophils and mast cells are now recognized as distinct cell lines and it appears that basophils have important and non-redundant functions, distinct from those of mast cells. On the ...

Corrigendum Cryptotanshinone inhibits IgE ‑mediated degranulation through inhibition of spleen tyrosine kinase and tyrosine‑protein kinase phosphorylation in mast cells
In this study, novel function of CRT on phosphorylations of Lyn/Syk kinases in mast cells is elucidated for the first time. Furthermore, it is likely that this inhibitory effect of CRT on Lyn/Syk kinases negatively affected activities of their downstream signalling molecules including PLCγ, PKCδ, and IKKβ, which leads to decrease in mast cell degranulation by CRT treatment. Besides the inhibitory effect of CRT on mast cell degranulation, here we provide additional evidence that CRT exerts anti-AD effects through inactivation of MAPK and NF‑κB. It has been reported that CRT regulates the activities of MAPK and NF‑κ...

CD8+ T-cells Co-expressing PD-1 and TIGIT Are Highly Frequent in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2021 Dec 8;20(6):751-763. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v20i6.8027.ABSTRACTThe role of immune checkpoint receptors in T-cell exhaustion has been demonstrated in several cancers. We investigated the co-expression of TIGIT/PD-1 and LAG-3/PD-1 cells in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The frequencies of TIGIT+PD-1+CD8+and LAG-3+PD-1+CD8+cells and relative mRNA expression of LSECtin and CD155 were examined in PBMCs from 33 CLL patients and 20 controls. The percentage of TIGIT+PD-1+CD8+cells was significantly higher in CLL patients than in control subjects, with the preference in advanced s...

IL-25 Impact on Malignant B Cells Survival and T Cells Activation in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2023 Jun 16;22(3):299-311. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v22i3.13058.ABSTRACTT cell dysregulation and shift to T helper 2 responses, boosting tumor microenvironment support, contributes to the survival of leukemic B cells in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Interleukin (IL)-25 is involved in the initiation of T helper 2 cell responses. Signal transduction of IL-25 begins with the heterodimer receptor (IL-17RA/IL-17RB). The presence of IL-25 in the tumor microenvironment may affect the supportive effects of T cells in the surrounding tumor cell environment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the rol...
