Pinworms are caused by the parasite Enterobius vermicularis. Humans are the only known reservoir and are infected by fecal-oral transmission of eggs or indirectly such as through contaminated clothing or bedding. It is commonly seen in children and can easily pass to family members, plus people can become easily reinfected. The incubation period is usually 1-2 months and eggs can survive outside humans for 2-3 weeks. Abdominal pain is a very common problem with abdominal masses being somewhat less common. If one considers how frequently patients have abdominal pain due to constipation and that it often presents with a fecal mass, both of these are commonplace. Abdominal and pelvic organs are sometimes mistaken for masses also. As the abdominal and pelvic cavities are large, tumors often need to be quite large before they cause functional problems and/or can be palpated on physical examination.

CD177 Expression on Neutrophils: In Search of a Clonal Assay for Myeloid Neoplasia by Flow Cytometry.
Conclusions: Skewed low neutrophil CD177(%) is highly associated with clonal myeloid disorders, particularly myelodysplasia, and may be useful for detecting clonal myeloid disorders.

A comparative study of Hasford score and Sokal index in prognostication of the novo chronic myeloid leukemia patients and a search for new prognostic markers.
Conclusions: This study shows that Hasford score predicts survival of the patients better than Sokal index. However, multicentric study over a large population is needed to give the final verdict.

Impact of tailored patient education on adherence of patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia to tyrosine kinase inhibitors: a randomized multicentre intervention study
ConclusionTailored patient education improved the medication adherence of patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia. Without this, adherence behaviour tended to decline. Personal communication with a nurse proved to be an essential part of adherence support and should not be ignored.
