Left epigastric isolated tumor fed by the inferior phrenic artery diagnosed as ectopic hepatocellular carcinoma: A case report
CONCLUSION: This asymptomatic ectopic HCC case described achieved an excellent result due to early detection, radical resection, and systematic surveillance.PMID:37731571 | PMC:PMC10507550 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i26.6231

Laparoscopic Anatomical Liver Resection of Segment VIII by Using ICG Fluorescence Positive Staining Under the Guidance of Laparoscopic Ultrasonography
CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic anatomical liver resection of S8 has been demonstrated to be feasible. Under the guidance of laparoscopic ultrasonography, ICG positive staining was proven to be optimal for Anatomical segmentectomy.PMID:37556011 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13920-7

Robotic versus laparoscopic hepatectomy: A single-center, propensity score- matched study
CONCLUSIONS: The rate of conversion to open surgery is lower in RH than in LH. Although operative time is longer in RH than in LH, RH is feasible and safe for patients with benign or malignant liver lesion. Our study also demonstrated comparable oncological results in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma between LH and RH group.PMID:37537065 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.07.049

Laparoscopic Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy (L-ALPPS) After Conversion Therapy for BCLC-B Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Video Article
CONCLUSIONS: L-ALPPS as a surgical option seems to be feasible and safe for intermediate-advanced HCC after conversion therapy.PMID:37501052 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13946-x

The parotid gland, an unusual site of colorectal cancer metastasis
We present a case of stage IV sigmoid colon adenocarcinoma with metastases to the left parotid. The patient was a 53-year-old Filipino man diagnosed with stage IV sigmoid adenocarcinoma with liver metastases in June 2021. He underwent laparoscopic sigmoidectomy and received eight cycles of chemotherapy with capecitabine and oxaliplatin with partial response of his liver lesions. Capecitabine monotherapy was then maintained. On September 2022, he experienced persistent left facial pain, with no relief after dental tooth extraction and antibiotics. A computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a 5 × 7 × 6 cm inhomogenous mass i...

Open Versus Laparoscopic Right Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Following Sequential TACE-PVE: A Multicentric Comparative Study
CONCLUSION: Major LLR after TACE/PVE should be considered as a valuable option in expert centers to increase the chance of TO, the latter being associated with a better 5-year OS.PMID:37394670 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13752-5

A comprehensive study and extensive review of the Caudate lobe: The last piece of "Jigsaw" puzzle
This study reviewed the anatomical history of the caudate lobe, focusing on the challenges associated with caudate lobe-related surgical resection. Due to the unique anatomical position of the caudate lobe, surgical strategy for caudate lobe resection is particularly important, and the technical requirements for hepatobiliary surgeons are also extremely strict. Therefore, understanding the anatomical history of the caudate lobe and discussing the challenges associated with caudate lobectomy is essential.PMID:37331854 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.06.003

Robot Assisted Laparoscopy Combined with Thoracoscopy in the Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Inferior Vena Cava Tumor Thrombus
CONCLUSIONS: Robot surgical system reduces the limitations of laparoscopic surgery by offering a stable three-dimensional view, 10-times-enlarged image, restored eye-hand axis, and excellent dexterity with the endowristed instruments, which has several advantages over open operation such as diminished blood loss, reduced morbidity, and shorter hospital stay.9.Chirurg. 88:7-11;10.BMC Surg. 11:2;11.Minerva Chir. 64:135-146; Furthermore, it could favor the operative feasibility of difficult resections reducing the conversion rate and playing a role to extend the indications of liver resection to minimally invasive approaches....
