PGC1 β Regulates Breast Tumor Growth and Metastasis by SREBP1-Mediated HKDC1 Expression
Conclusions: PGC1β regulates breast cancer tumor growth and metastasis by SREBP1-mediated HKDC1 expression. This provides a novel therapeutic strategy through targeting the PGC1β/HKDC1 signaling pathway for breast cancer treatment. Introduction Breast cancer is a very common cancer with significant premature mortality in women. Around 12% of women in USA will have chance to be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetimes (1, 2). The development of breast cancer is regulated by many factors, and even as average survival rates have increased significantly as a result of many advanced treatments...

Targeted Modulation of FAK/PI3K/PDK1/AKT and FAK/p53 Pathways by Cucurbitacin B for the Antiproliferation Effect Against Human Cholangiocarcinoma Cells.
This study aimed to investigate the antiproliferative property of cucurbitacin B on KKU-100 CCA cells. The determination of underlying molecular mechanisms was also carried out. The results revealed that cucurbitacin B suppressed growth and replicative ability to form colonies of CCA cells, suggesting the antiproliferative effect of this compound against the cells. Flow cytometry analysis demonstrated that the interfering effect of cucurbitacin B on the CCA cell cycle at the G2/M phase was accountable for its antiproliferation property. Accompanied with cell cycle disruption, cucurbitacin B altered the expression of protei...

Polymorphisms of an oncogenic gene, mesothelin, predict the risk and prognosis of gastric cancer in a Chinese Han population
This study aims to explore the biological function of MSLN in gastric cancer and to evaluate the association of MSLN polymorphism (rs3764247, rs3764246, rs12597489, rs1057147, rs3765319) with the risk and prognosis of gastric cancer. Small interfering RNA (siRNA) transfection and MSLN overexpression were performed in human gastric cancer cell lines, respectively. The proliferation of tumor cells was evaluated by Cell counting kit 8(CCK-8) and colony formation assay. Wound healing assay and transwell assay were used to elucidate gastric cancer cell migration and invasion rates. We conducted a case-control study involving 86...
