The Efficacy of Oral Etoricoxib in Pain Control During Colposcopy-Directed Cervical Biopsy: A Randomized Control Trial
CONCLUSION: Administration of oral etoricoxib 30 minutes before colposcopy could reduce pain during and up to 24-hour post colposcopy with minimal side effects.PMID:37642074 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2023.24.8.2855

Microbial metabolite butyrate promotes anti-PD-1 antitumor efficacy by modulating T cell receptor signaling of cytotoxic CD8 T cell
Gut Microbes. 2023 Dec;15(2):2249143. doi: 10.1080/19490976.2023.2249143.ABSTRACTRecent studies have demonstrated that the antitumor immunity of immune cells can be modulated by gut microbiota and their metabolites. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we showed that the serum butyric acid level is positively correlated with the expression of programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) on circulating CD8+ and Vγ9 Vδ2 (Vδ2+) T cells in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Responder NSCLC patients exhibited higher levels of serum acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid than non-responders. Deplet...

Cordia oncocalyx and oncocalyxones: From the phytochemistry to the anticancer action and therapeutic benefits against chronic diseases
Fitoterapia. 2023 Jul 25:105624. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2023.105624. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCordia oncocalyx Allemão is an endemic economically underexploited plant from Brazilian semi-arid region. Herein, we carried out a well-defined bibliographic review about the pharmacological activities of oncocalyxones from C. oncocalyx and mechanisms responsible for the biomedical properties. MeSH terms were used in the scientific databases for a narrative exploration. Technological development and bioproducts were also examined. Cordia oncocalyx is a deciduous tree of sexual reproduction rich in terpenoid quinones. Among th...

Systematic literature review of primary and secondary cervical cancer prevention programs in South America
CONCLUSIONS: No documents were found about a national HPV vaccination program in French Guiana and Venezuela, and no official guidelines for cervical cancer screening were found for Suriname and Venezuela; thus, it will be difficult to eliminate this public health problem in these countries. Countries in South America must update their guidelines for HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening as new evidence emerges. Official websites with information about HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening are important sources that can be accessed by health professionals and the population.PMID:37405122 | PMC:PMC10317248 |...

Gut microbiota associated with the mitigation effect of synbiotics on adverse events of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with esophageal cancer: A retrospective exploratory study
Conclusion. Anaerostipes hadrus and B. pseudocatenulatum may be involved in the ameliorating adverse events and can thus be used to identify beforehand patients that would benefit from LBG+EN during NAC. These results also suggest that LBG+EN would be useful in the development of measures to prevent adverse events during NAC.PMID:37367942 | DOI:10.1099/jmm.0.001723
