Mortality risk in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 of the lineage B.1.1.7 in the UK
Alcoba-Florez and colleagues [1] recently reported the local transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) of the lineage B.1.1.7 in Tenerife, Spain. The use of antimotility drugs in COVID-19 associated diarrhea
We read with interest the research work by Han et al.1 who described the clinical characteristics of patients with novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) presented with diarrhea. Particularly, Han et al.1 reported that a significantly higher proportion of patients presented with diarrhea developed a severe course of disease compared to their counterparts without diarrhea (71% versus 22%; P=0.011). While it is still unclear the exact explanations behind such observation, some researchers have proposed that cytokine storm associated with a severe course of COVID-19 could alter the gut-brain axis, leading to gut inflammation.

Prolonged Virus Shedding Even after Seroconversion in a Patient with COVID-19
Previous reports revealed that the emergence of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection (COVID-19) had raised global concern.1 Several studies discussing the clinical pictures of COVID-19 and specific antibody responding to SARS-CoV-2 have been published.2 –4 However, the time sequences of clinical manifestations, virus shedding kinetics, contagiousness, and specific antibody reaction, which are essential for understanding pathophysiology and infection control strategy, have less been discussed.
