The petition, which will be accompanied by a hard-hitting poster showing long queues of people waiting outside a GP practice in a nightmare vision of the future, will be sent out to every surgery in the UK over the next week. The petition and poster, which have been produced by the Royal College of General Practitioners and the National Association for Patient Participation, call on the governments of the UK to reverse the swingeing cuts made to the funding of general practice over the last decade, which many believe have left some services struggling to survive. 21 May 2014 Two fifths (43 per cent) of NHS staff feel that swift and effective action is not taken to deal with inappropriate behaviours and performance in their organisation, a survey published today by The King’s Fund has found.The survey of more than 2,000 NHS clinicians and managers also found that a noticeable proportion of executive board members (16 per cent) did not think that swift and effective action is being taken, with only 58 per cent thinking that it is. RCGP to develop unique online info hub to help UK GPs support carers
The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) has been awarded more than £380,000* from the Department of Health to develop a unique online information 'hub' to help GPs improve the support and services they provide for carers. The hub will collate all the information GPs, primary healthcare staff, practice teams, commissioners and Health & Wellbeing Board representatives might need to identify and support carers, bringing together RCGP resources as well as signposting to external resources. Majority of public in England think case for care.data has not been well publicised
A new opinion poll - released to coincide with a House of Commons adjournment debate on the issue of care.data (4 March 2014) - shows that the majority of the public in England believes that the case for the introduction of the care.data electronic database of all patient records from GP practices has not been well-publicised.
