Pharmalot... Pharmalittle... Good Morning
Rise and shine, another busy day is on the way. Already this week, there has been a fast-paced medical conference, a contentious court ruling and a controversial FDA panel meeting, which continues today. What else may arise? We are uncertain, but are keeping watch and, meanwhile, planning some interesting items. For now, please enjoy some tidbits, and a cup of stimulation, as we always do. Have a great day and keep us in mind for interesting developments... Curcumin enhances the cytotoxic and chemosensitising effects of lenalidomide in human multiple myeloma cells
Oh I just love open access articles, which are studies that are available FOR FREE to anyone who wishes to read them online. And this particular one (whose title coincides with the title of today’s post) falls into that lovely category… I’d first like to mention that lenalidomide, perhaps more familiarly known by its brand [...] (Source: Margaret's Corner)

Big, fat Revlimid
Jay and some of his co-workers won a fitness competition at work the other day, and he brought home some fabulous ("fabulous") prizes, including a water bottle and one of those squishy stress-ball-type things shaped like a giant pill. The first thing I thought was, goodness, it's a giant Revlimid.See?Mother and child reunion!A mutant Revlimid has taken over the city! We must flee!We gave the pill to WCK to play with (the big, fat, pretend pill, not any of the real pills!). A short while later, I walked past the goose and discovered he/she is now taking Giant Revlimid. We're hoping for a complete response.I don't know how o...

Day One: Thirty-two days of blogging
First of all, my M-spike remained the same this month at 1.5, which means the Revlimid is still succeeding at kicking some M-spike butt.Ha ha ha, M-spike! I am laughing at you!Second of all, I know I have not blogged in a super long time. It's been 32 days, to be exact. I don't have a good excuse at all. I continued to put off the blog, and then tons and tons of people (or, to be more exact, two people) asked about it. Today I decided I needed to start it back up again. To make up for all of the days I missed, I have decided to punish challenge myself with a 32 Day Blogathon. I will post to the blog every day for 32 days i...

Sleepy Spike
Finally, here's an update on my M-spike. I forgot to post my results last month, so I thought I'd just wait until I got the results for this month. I just talked to the nurse today, and my M-spike is still stable: It's been 1.4 for two months in a row! I've been on the reduced dose (15 mg) of Revlimid since November, and Spike is still sleeping peacefully in there. Here's Bon Jovi doing an impression of my M-spike.Shhhh! Don't wake him! Pharma Deals North of $10 Billion Seen Returning in 2013 - Bloomberg
Get ready for the return of the $10 billion-plus drug deal. Pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer Inc. (PFE) and Bristol- Myers Squibb Co. (BMY) have spent the last several years digesting earlier acquisitions, refocusing their product development and setting aside cash in anticipation of expiring patents. Now, the expectation is they’re ready to start buying again. Led by Pfizer, in New York, and Whitehouse Station, New Jersey-based Merck & Co. (MRK), five of the largest U.S. drugmakers had more than $70 billion in cash, near cash and short-term investments at the end of the third quarter. ...

I'll Take " Better "
Well as I predicted... Summer has officially arrived and so did the lab results from my 10th Revlimid cycle. " Better " without supplements despite a strong correlation with supplements in the prior 5 cycles. So would you spend the $4 bucks a day on those 2 dozen pills? If a few numbers and a single point of measurement were all that was needed to define success or failure life would be a lot simpler. Heck we wouldn ' t even need clinical trials at all. I do have to admit that I expected the trend to continue, but " Better " is better than worse even if not living up to my biases. 30% better is 50% better than 2 months a...
