COVID-19 Long Term Implications on Job Market and Specialty Competitiveness
I was just talking with my girlfriend about this and I'm curious what you all might think. It's pretty clear there will be some long term Implications from this pandemic, particularly on the financial side of things. Do you think this will be impacting the future graduates in job availability and residency competitiveness? I thought rads got hit hard during the recession of 2008 because old docs prolonged retirement. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

During economic downturns, does medical school become more competitive?
I figure application volume increases disproportionally from the usual year-over-year changes when a recession strikes. This would primarily be driven by folks in finance and business being laid off (or taking substantial pay cuts) and turning to medicine as a “safe” path forward. Anyone have data or anecdotal experiences with this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Real Estate and Coronavirus / Recession
We just entered day one of escrow on a home purchase. I'm watching TV tonight and the madness with COVID-19 continues. Stocks continue to drop. Everything is being cancelled. One NBA player contracts it and they shut down the ENTIRE LEAGUE. No flying from Europe to USA. All mass gatherings are going to be on hold. In short, I think our world is going to "hibernate" or just "pause" for the next few months, maybe 3-6 until we get a hold of this thing. Question is whether this is a good... Brazil Phone Number List
by mdnur (Posted Wed Feb 12, 2020 3:10 am) According to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), cyber crime was up in 2008, and if the first few months of 2009 is anything to go by, this trend is not only continuing, it is accelerating. As the country slides into recession, early indicators for 2009-February to March 2009-shows an additional 50% increase in reported Internet fraud complaints." Who profits in a recession?
Who makes bank during a recession? And my question isn't "who profits from it" but "who profits in it?" (Then again, that could be the same thing.) Now, this is NOT a political question as to the state of the economy right now - it's solid dollars and sense. The one myth is the pawn shop industry, as they themselves say that, the better the economy is, the better they do. Anyone have any input? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Investing Changes
For all of the investment savvy people out there, any big changes you're making to your portfolios with the likely round of fed rate cuts going through this year and next, and likely recession in a 1-3 year time span? Might be fun to talk finance, seeing as how many psych people are pretty clueless about such things. Most of my stuff won't change as it's geared towards long-term holdings and some ups and downs are part of the game, passive income streams also likely fairly static. But, I... Conclusion of the Passage The conclusion is the overall opinion of the passage. It can often be found at the end in the last paragraph, but the writer may also mention it in the first sentence of the passage and go on to discuss and justify the conclusion throughout the passage. Finding the Writer’s Strongest Opinion The writer’s most strongly stated opinion will tend to be found in the conclusion of the passage, so that is the best place to look. The strongest stated opinion may be mentioned the most number of times, or it could be a topic discussed in the most detail. Put wrong speciality in AADSAS Application
I shadow a orthodontist for half a year, but most of things I observed were fillings and making crowns. Sometimes, I observed root canal procedures, wisdom tooth extraction, implants and gum recession treatment. So, in the application, I put general dentist, and I was gonna ask people about what I should put. Now, after I submitted, I start to think about it again. If I need to change that, let me know! Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NonTrad looking to Apply this cycle for Fall 2017.. Advise appreciated
For a little background, I'm a 35yo that graduated 2007 with a BS in Nutr Science. I went back to take classes to get prerequisites for entrance to Physical Therapy school. Due to Healthcare reform, recession, etc I decided to take time off and ended up working as a Food Service Director at Nursing Facility. So I have no real patient care experience unfortunately. After a couple years working, I've decided to work to get into Med School. I did not find that work rewarding as I think I'd do... NonTrad looking to Apply this cycle for Fall 2017.. Hello-Gamsat Section 2 help!
Hello! GAMSAT section II help! I have had many personal issues which meant that I was unable to put as much time into this section; until now. Would it be okay for someone to have a quick look at my essay and give advice on its structure and content etc? I'd really appreciate it 'If poverty is the mother of crime, stupidity is its father.' 'Crime' is a complex matter that has many types and causes, so it would be unfair to simply say that poverty and stupidity give birth to all crimes. The comment suggests that the root causes of crime are poverty and stupidity. However, not all crimes are committed purely to acquire ...

Moving to Wales - advice needed please!
Hello, I'm an FY2 in Sheffield who is likely to apply for either GP or psychiatry and are looking to leave Sheffield at the start of ST1. I really like the idea of Wales as a place to train (combination of landscape, amenities, nice people etc) but its a big step and when you applying to specialties that literally allow you to move pretty much anywhere I want to make the right the decision. I've looked a lot on the web and would really appreciate some insider info to address some myths and misconceptions I might have picked up. 1. I will be discriminated against because I'm English and don't speak Welsh. I'm thinking so...
