Call for Proposals: NCL Research Award for Research on Batten Disease
The NCL Foundation provides regulary the NCL research award. The goal is to find a cure against the deadly children's disease Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL), also called Batten disease. This metabolic disorder is the most common neurodegenerative disease of childhood and is inevitably fatal. The gradual stages of the suffering are blindness, dementia, epilepsy, loss of speech, paralysis and complete helplessness. We invite medical and basic science researchers worldwide to submit innovative clinical oriented or translational basic science projects, which can contribute to finding a cure for juvenile NCL....

In vitro-In vivo Correlations of Ocular Implants (U01)
Funding Opportunity RFA-FD-13-029 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this study is to investigate in vitro-in vivo correlations of ophthalmic intravitreal implants. Specifically, an in vitro dissolution test which correlates with in vivo ocular absorption should be investigated. In vivo studies should be conducted in an appropriate animal model. Suitable bioequivalence methods are lacking for generic ophthalmic implants. The results from this project will help to understand the relationship between in vitro release and in vivo release, and the findings will be used to help determine bioeq...
