Trial By Error: Some National Health Service Branches Fail to Respond to New NICE Guidelines for ME/CFS
By David Tuller, DrPH In late October, the UK’s National institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) released its new ME/CFS guideline, which specifically recommend against graded exercise therapy (GET) and a specialized form of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). Could smartphones and ride-sharing apps solve transportation in healthcare?
Patients living in rural, suburban or urban areas with poor infrastructure often don’t have the proper means to get to the doctor’s appointment on time. In extreme cases, they have to wait even for emergency situations so much that they can call an ambulance and receive care in a hospital. Ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft offer non-emergency medical transportation services, while start-ups, such as Circulation or Ride Health also promise to deal with the issue. Could smartphones and networked services solve transportation in healthcare? Why is getting to the doctor such a hassle? Wherever they...

Trial By Error: Neurology Journal Fixes False Claim in MUS Paper – But Fails to Publish a Correction Notice
By David Tuller, DrPH I’ve recently bugged two separate journals to correct the same error—a mis-citation of a study concerning the estimated costs to the UK’s National Health Service of so-called “medically unexplained symptoms” (MUS). One of the journals, Psychological Medicine, has corrected the mistake and has also published a standard notice called a corrigendum […] (Source: virology blog)

A North Carolina Pediatric Hospitalist Tells Her Pandemic Story to Senator Richard Burr: Thirteen Months (And Counting) In Medical Whistle-blower Hell - Courtesy Of Private Equity/For-Profit Healthcare And Cruelly-Indifferent/Morally-Bankrupt State & Federal Oversight
Author ' s Note:  I cannot " sound-bite " the last year - and perhaps it ' s time to write the book. Scroll about half-way down to read the letter to Senator Burr.  The bottom line is that for thethird time in 23 years, as a Pediatrician staffing a community hospital, I was fired " with-out cause " immediately after intervening in a neonatal ( " bad baby " ) case, rescuing the situation/ " saving " the baby, and reporting it INTERNALLY to Peer Review.  NO discussion.  NO recourse.  NO review.  A total cover-up.  And EVERY SINGLE TIME I ' ve asked the state/Federal government to enfor...

3 Reasons Why National Digital Health Transformations Fail
An armada of digital health technologies is set to bring healthcare to the 21st century. Artificial intelligence can make the alarm fatigue epidemic a thing of the past. Medical-grade, portable diagnostic devices make patients the point-of-care. With such potentials and more, it’s no wonder that some governments are developing national digital health strategies to transform their current systems. A survey from the American Hospital Association suggests that around 85% of hospital executives already factor digital innovation as part of their long-term strategy. Bringing about such a change requires heavy investments. T...
