2021-22 NHSC Scholarship 2020-2021
Howdy all, Happy Friday - I had applied for the National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program (NHSC SP) in May 2021. Their website says the final decision would be made in September of this year. Received an alert from my credit bereau that NHSC ran a credit check on me a week back. Does it mean NHSC is seriously considering my application? Anyone had their credit check done by NHSC and in the same situation? Or am I thinking too much into it? Experience/advice from previous NHSC... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NHSC Scholarships
Can someone confirm that podiatry is not one of the qualify professions for the National Health Service Corps scholarships? I tried to call and ask but I was on hold for too long. I know podiatrists classify for the HPSP scholarships, but the Navy's website does not directly list it: http://www.med.navy.mil/sites/navme...rofessionsscholarshipprogram_prospective.aspx (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on Loans
So I have been accepted into medical school this upcoming year and I am looking into how to pay for this. I know I am going to take out loans and I am looking into National health service corps stuff BUT in terms of loans: what loans are preferred, how do I apply for them, private vs government loans, etc. I already filled out FAFSA but I didn't receive much so I am just a little confused because I thought as a graduate student I'd qualify for a lot more. Any advice on how you guys obtained... Advice on Loans (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does 10 years NHS employment count as work experience?
I don't have physician-shadowing experience or even any recent clinical work experience but I have spent the last ten years employed within the National Health Service in an admin position. I have direct contact with wards on a daily basis as I am responsible for finding temporary staff. Would this be advantageous when applying for medical school or would it have no bearing?
