Obstructive cardiac myxosarcoma of the right ventricular outflow tract with pulmonary embolism and concurrent right atrial hemangiosarcoma in a dog
Can Vet J. 2024 Mar;65(3):234-240.ABSTRACTA 13-year-old spayed female rottweiler crossbreed dog was presented with an 8-day history of abnormal gait and collapse associated with excitement or physical activity. A cardiac gallop was noticed on thoracic auscultation, and a 1st-degree atrioventricular block and sinus tachycardia were noted on an electrocardiogram. Echocardiography identified a hypoechoic, irregularly marginated luminal mass in the right ventricle at the level of the pulmonic valves. Postmortem gross examination confirmed the presence of a soft, polypoid, and botryoid mass (9 × 3 × 3 cm) with a smooth and gl...

Retroperitoneal myxosarcoma in a cat
This report details a retroperitoneal myxosarcoma in a cat that exhibited extremely aggressive biological behavior. An exploratory midline celiotomy revealed a left-sided retroperitoneal mass firmly adhered to the hypaxial musculature. Histopathological evaluation identified the mass as a myxosarcoma. Following surgical excision, the mass rapidly recurred within 6  weeks after surgery. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

An extraskeletal osteosarcoma in the auricle of a Wistar Hannover rat.
Authors: Shiga A, Katoh Y, Ito T, Ohnuma-Koyama A, Takahashi N, Okazaki Y, Harada T Abstract An extraskeletal osteosarcoma was detected in the auricle of a 110-week-old female Wistar Hannover rat. Grossly, the tumor, measuring 15 mm in size, was observed in the subcutis as a solid and hard mass. Histologically, the majority of the mass comprised mature, compact bone. It was surrounded by neoplastic cells showing a variety of histologies, such as sarcoma, not otherwise specified, and myxosarcoma away from the bone-forming region. However, these different histological regions were considered to be components...

Extracardiac intrapericardial myxosarcoma causing right ventricular outflow tract obstruction in a dog
Publication date: April 2018Source: Journal of Veterinary Cardiology, Volume 20, Issue 2Author(s): E.T. Karlin, V.K. Yang, M. Prabhakar, S.L. Gregorich, S. Hahn, J.E. RushAbstractA 13-year-old male castrated pomeranian cross was referred for evaluation of episodes of collapse and a suspected cardiac mass. The presence of a mass at the base of the heart within the pericardial space was confirmed by echocardiography. Additional diagnostics included computed tomography, ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspirate, and thoracic radiographs. The mass was surgically debulked and diagnosed as myxosarcoma via histopathology. This case ...
