My Hysterectomy Recovery – Lisa ’ s Story
I have 4 children 15, 13, 11 and 11, since my last two (twins) were born I have suffered with heavy periods! I teach Pilates and Fitness Classes so this was sometimes a real challenge, often I would have to leave the class to change my pad etc. I had the Mirena Coil fitted and for 5 years everything was OK. Then I had to have it replaced……. The replacement was rejected by my body into the shower tray, then I had a third replacement which was also rejected, during all this my periods were everlasting and really, really heavy…. I was exhausted and finding it a challenge to teach my classes and look after th...

Still Waiting for My Op – Anna ’ s Story
I have struggled with Adenomnyosis and Endometriosis (hope those spellings are right) for a very long time. Heavy bleeding, flooding, discomfort, lots of pain and a massive belly for so long. Part of the reason for bearing with the pain all this long was the hope that I would conceive. I have been married 12 years now and he has finally filled for divorce so he can move on with his life and father a child hopefully. I have tried everything from tablets, Mirena coil, I was aware of the hysterectomy option but I had been so scared to make that decision. Cheers – to new beginnings, bright colours and a bright future! – Michelle ’ s Story
I will start at the beginning as some of you may relate to symptoms I have experienced. 2 years ago, my periods were starting to get heavier and longer. This was very unusual for me, I was always like clockwork. It started to effect me emotionally and physically. I had the usual referral to the gynaecology dept and it was confirmed that I had fibroids. I didn’t really know much about these and no one really offered any comforting information, other than they should shrink over time. I wasn’t really convinced by the “should”.
