I was the youngest coming from a Irish catholic background. My dad was strictest with me. I suffered with mine. Really bad. I would go through pads in 10 mins up to 2 every 2 hours or so. I would bleed straight through to the skirt, on school seats; that’s how bad. I got pregnant at 15 years old. I fell for someone. Being Roman Catholic, at...

Morning after pill 'less reliable' for women over 11 stone
Conclusion Overall the FSRH guideline gives additional clarity around the different types of emergency contraception that should be selected in different circumstances. These recommendations are based on the best level of evidence and expert understanding to date. However, they may change in the future as more evidence comes to light. In particular, related to the issue of weight on the effectiveness of oral emergency contraception, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) concluded in 2014 that the available evidence "was limited and not robust enough to support with certainty a conclusion that oral emergency contracepti...

Meet 10 Women Who Rushed To Get An IUD Before Inauguration Day
Since the morning of November 9, when it was clear that Donald Trump would become the 45th president, droves of women have gone to their gynecologists seeking low-cost, long-acting reversible contraception before Trump’s inauguration ― and before the GOP dismantles the Affordable Care Act.  Planned Parenthood reports that the demand for IUDs has gone up 900 percent since the election. And women’s health care providers say they have heard from women who are frightened about what the next four years will bring for their reproductive rights.  Some got their IUDs and implants months ago, and others...

FDA accepts Allergan ’ s new drug application for Liletta contraception device
Allergan (NYSE:AGN) and the global nonprofit women’s health company Medicines360 said today that the FDA accepted its supplemental New Drug Application for the Liletta contraception device. The companies are asking the federal watchdog to extend the system’s duration of use from 3 years to 4 years. Liletta is a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system that is placed in a woman’s uterus to prevent pregnancy for up to 3 years and is 99% effective, according to Dublin-based Allergan. The device is not permanent – a health care provider can take it out at any time, enabling the patient to choose be...

Birth control is an essential aspect of many women’s health care ― and with the threat of losing affordable access to it under the Trump and Pence administration, women are extra eager to celebrate it.   Whether it’s an IUD, the pill, the implant or the NuvaRing, women all over the country know that their birth control routines are much more than “nitty gritty” details of their lives. (Sorry, Paul Ryan!) In honor of the full lives that access to contraception allows women to live, non-profit online birth control support network Bedsider started the hashtag #ThxBirthControl on W...

Lots Of Women Plan To Get IUDs Before Trump Makes It So They Can't
As Americans face the reality that Donald Trump will be our next president — and with a GOP-controlled Congress to boot — women rightly fear for their reproductive rights. Women, call your docs. Today. Take charge of your health before Jan. 20. Get an IUD, get mammograms, get ultrasounds, get Paps. Do it now.— Maura Brannigan (@maura_brannigan) November 9, 2016 Trump ran an aggressively anti-choice campaign and said he’d defund Planned Parenthood. He chose a running mate, Mike Pence, so devoted to crushing reproductive rights that he once signed a law that would require women to bury or c...
