As I was pushing a 198kg patient to the OR today for her Mirena insertion under general anesthesia with a known difficult airway, I was wondering what other institutions do for patient transport. At our hospital, the circulating nurse has to see the patient in pre-op before the patient goes to OR to confirm that all the paperwork is done then immediately sprints back to the OR to wait for the patient to arrive leaving me by myself to push the bed to said location.
