Exploring Parkinson's disease prevalence in regional, rural and remote Australia: A systematic scoping review
CONCLUSION: A paucity of reliable prevalence data indicates the need for well-designed, country-specific epidemiological studies to be conducted to estimate the actual impacts of the disease to inform public health planning, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas where access to PD-specific care is already inequitable.PMID:37897118 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13054 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)

School-based multidisciplinary student-led clinics in health and Australian accreditation standards: A scoping review
CONCLUSION: Increasing health student placement opportunities within student-led clinics can improve the health and well-being of children and young people in regional, rural and remote (RRR) areas of Australia who may otherwise have limited access to allied health services.PMID:37888895 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13051 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)

Incidence of occult appendiceal neoplasm in patients over 40  years with acute appendicitis: A single-institution review
CONCLUSIONS: Occult appendiceal neoplasm was higher than reported in the literature in our cohort. This would support appendicectomy as the treatment of choice for patients aged 40 years and over with acute appendicitis and caution against nonoperative management in this demographic.PMID:37876354 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13055 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)

An automated protocol for assessing career rurality outcomes of Australian health professionals using retrospective data
DISCUSSION: The protocol presented allows for a fast and reproducible analysis of work location by region for health care workers. This will allow comparisons of outcomes between universities or health professions.PMID:37859332 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13053 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)
