Meeting the needs of rural cancer patients in survivorship: Understanding the role of telehealth
CONCLUSIONS: Telehealth has benefits for the delivery of health and supportive services to rural/regional cancer patients and survivors. Nurses can play a key role in assessing the support needs of cancer survivors and facilitating strategies to ensure that survivors have the skills necessary to access telehealth support.PMID:37927175 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13056 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)

Distress and psychosocial support seeking: A comparison of rural and metropolitan oncology patient experiences
CONCLUSION: These findings can inform equitable resourcing of psychosocial support in rural areas and the adaptation of psychosocial interventions to be more flexible and responsive to individual needs. This may help increase patient uptake of support, particularly in rural areas.PMID:37926968 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13058 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)

The efficiency, timeliness, health outcomes and cost-effectiveness of a new aeromedical retrieval model in Central Australia: A pre- and post-implementation observational study
CONCLUSION: Central Australia's new critical care consultant-led aeromedical retrieval model is more efficient, is dispatched faster and is more cost-effective. These findings are highly relevant to other remote regions in Australia and internationally that have comparable GP-led retrieval services.PMID:37916478 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13057 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)

Exploring Parkinson's disease prevalence in regional, rural and remote Australia: A systematic scoping review
CONCLUSION: A paucity of reliable prevalence data indicates the need for well-designed, country-specific epidemiological studies to be conducted to estimate the actual impacts of the disease to inform public health planning, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas where access to PD-specific care is already inequitable.PMID:37897118 | DOI:10.1111/ajr.13054 (Source: The Australian Journal of Rural Health)
