Does who you live with matter for your health? The influence of partners' socioeconomic characteristics on self-rated health in Norway
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that health is affected by the resources (or lack thereof) in one's immediate networks. To reduce social inequalities in health, health personnel might customise interactions to account for household resources. Such knowledge could also be used in health-promoting activities to enhance participation and health competency.PMID:37705349 | DOI:10.1177/14034948231197453 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health)

Health care use after severe respiratory tract infections in children aged 0 to 5 years
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings imply a slightly increased health care use among infants after a hospital visit for COVID-19 than among infants with other RTIs, the potential etiological mechanisms of which deserve future clinical research. Severe COVID-19 in young children will not represent any markedly increased burden on the health services.PMID:37698056 | DOI:10.1177/14034948231197250 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health)

Interpreter services for immigrants in European healthcare systems: a systematic review of access barriers and facilitators
CONCLUSION: Immigrant patients and healthcare professionals experience barriers in using interpreter services due to restrictive policies regarding user fees and limitations to entitlement to interpreters, a limited number of qualified interpreters and lack of knowledge. Medical encounters with unaddressed language barriers can put patients at risk and reduce quality of care for immigrants, which calls for strengthening formal and informal access to interpreters.PMID:37698073 | DOI:10.1177/14034948231179279 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health)

Between information campaign and controversy: a quantitative newspaper content analysis about COVID-19 vaccination in Switzerland and Austria
CONCLUSIONS: The commercialized and comparatively high share of tabloid news coverage in Austria may have contributed to oversimplified and polarizing COVID-19 vaccine debates in this context. Insufficiently balanced and adequate information may contribute to a loss of public trust in vaccination and may therefore affect vaccination uptake. Authorities and public health professionals should consider this effect when designing information campaigns.PMID:37646484 | DOI:10.1177/14034948231195388 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health)
