Dimensional profiling of psychopathology in children and adolescents based on the K-SADS-PL and an analysis of the construct validity of two ADHD symptom dimensions
CONCLUSIONS: The algorithms constitute an initial step in creating a framework for clinician-rated dimensional analyses of symptoms derived from the K-SADS-PL, but future studies are needed to further evaluate the construct validity of the remaining scales and the reliability and clinical utility of the method. We believe that our proposed algorithms offer a novel method of dimensional psychopathological assessment, which can be applied in multiple branches of child and adolescent psychiatry.PMID:37755235 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2023.2262997 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

Exploring expectations of neurofeedback treatment among trauma-affected refugees
CONCLUSION: The findings show that NF treatment for trauma affected refugees was challenged by difficulties in communicating the message about the NF equipment capabilities as well as the expected treatment outcome. These challenges included e.g. health professionals' ability to explain and the participants' cultural frame of reference. This is consistent with previous research, showing that compared to the native population, the dissemination of health information to refugees is more difficult and comprehensive. Further studies on how to ensure mutual understanding of the content of NF and expected treatment outcome are n...

Health-related quality of life in patients discharged from hospital after suicide attempt with violent methods compared to self-poisonings
CONCLUSION: Both groups scored lower for HRQOL than the general population, and the VM group had worse score than the SP group in physical dimensions. Both groups had less symptoms of anxiety and depression over time, but it`s association to HRQOL was strong.PMID:37712668 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2023.2257686 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

Parents' experience and views on the assessment and treatment of children with OCD within the public mental health system in Iceland: a qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: These findings underscore the need for clearer pathways for seeking help, improved access to trained healthcare workers, and a more centralized evaluation process. These insights can potentially guide future research and policy decisions to better support families dealing with childhood OCD in Iceland.PMID:37694737 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2023.2254758 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)
