Knowing me, knowing you: a scoping review assessing the current field of social cognition in schizophrenia
CONCLUSIONS: The current research on SC in SCZ is limited by conceptual and methodological uncertainties. Future research should focus on ensuring clear and valid definitions of key terms, evaluating and clarifying SC outcome measures and further untangling the relationship between SC and NSC.PMID:37366305 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2023.2226114 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

Blood-borne extracellular vesicles of bacteria and intestinal cells in patients with psychotic disorders
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that bactEV and host intestinal EV are decreased in patients with psychosis and that this topic is worthy of further investigation given potential pathophysiological implications. Possible mechanisms involve dysregulation of the gut microbiota by host EV, altered translocation of bactEV to systemic circulation where bactEV can interact with both the brain and the immune system.PMID:37354486 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2023.2223572 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

Factor analysis of the autism spectrum screening questionnaire in a population-based child sample
CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate a strong underlying connection between all ASSQ items which is elicited by the one-factor solution. Although as a screening tool, ASSQ is functioning with the unifactorial solution, the four factors can help to identify certain clusters of autism spectrum traits.PMID:37355342 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2023.2225060 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

Depression and dissociation mediate the association between bullying victimization and self-cutting
CONCLUSIONS: Self-cutting is more common among bullying victimized adolescents than their peers. The association is mediated by depressive and dissociative symptoms. More studies are needed to clarify the exact mechanisms via which depressive and dissociative symptoms interact with the association between bullying and self-harm.PMID:37314765 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2023.2222698 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)
