Renal AA amyloidosis revealing extramedullary plasmocytoma
CONCLUSION: Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare tumour that may be associated with amyloidosis, usually type AL. To our knowledge, its association with AA amyloidosis has not been reported in the literature. Treatment is based on surgery combined with radiotherapy or chemotherapy.PMID:38073243 | DOI:10.1684/ndt.2023.54 (Source: Nephrologie and Therapeutique)

Primary aldosteronism without hypertension: A case report and review of the literature
We describe the case of a patient who presented with hyperaldosteronism without arterial hypertension. She had been referred for consultation for persistent severe hypokalaemia despite oral KCl supplementation. The absence of hypertension had been proven by repeated clinical measurements and by ABPM. Hyperaldosteronism had been demonstrated by hormonal assays and catheterization of the adrenal veins. Abdominal CT revealed a left adrenal adenoma. Finally, the anatomopathological examination of the surgical specimen confirmed the adenoma. After the intervention, serum potassium normalized. The clinical case is completed by a...

In situ management of late thrombosis of a renal graft vein in a patient with Cockett syndrome
We describe the case of a 57-year-old female patient who had a kidney transplant 32 years ago and developed a late thrombosis of the graft vein, accompanied by extensive thrombosis in the common femoral and iliac veins. Risk factors included severe malnutrition, chronic inflammation due to an anal fistula, and Cockett syndrome. The treatment consisted of mechanical thrombectomy of the iliac vein, placement of a stent in the common iliac vein, partial thromboaspiration of the renal vein thrombus with local thrombolysis, followed by systemic anticoagulation. With this approach, renal function fully recovered without major co...
