Clinico-mycological and therapeutic updates on tinea corporis/cruris in the era of Trichophyton indotineae
Trichophyton indotineae (TI) has emerged as a novel dermatophyte species causing treatment recalcitrant skin infections. While the earliest reports came from India, TI has now spread to many parts of the world and is rapidly becoming a global health concern. Accurate identification of TI requires elaborate mycological investigations not in the domain of routine microbiology laboratories. Extensive, non-inflammatory and atypical presentations are commonly seen with this novel species. Peter J. Lynch 1936-2024. An obituary
Peter John Lynch, MD,1 sadly left us on February 19, 2024. We lost a friend, a worldwide respected dermatologist, a pensive courageous human being who was dedicated to his profession, family, and friends. He was a legendary, delightful, and outstanding figure whose life ’s work touched countless individuals. Dr Lynch was born on October 22, 1936, in Minneapolis, MN. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1961 and completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan in 1965. Dermatologic toxicity associated with targeted and immunotherapies in stage-IV non-small cell lung cancer patients: A 14-year cohort
To the Editor: Dermatologic toxicities occur in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and most frequently in epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRIs), presenting an therapeutic challenge.1 EGFRIs-related rashes were associated with prolonged survival in clinical trials with small datasets.2 However, information is limited on dermatologic toxicities of newer-generation targeted drugs and ICIs in advanced-stage NSCLC, especially under real-world conditions.
