Optical properties of recycled zirconia for dental applications
While waste zirconia can be recycled, whether the optical properties of recycled zirconia match those of commercially available zirconia is unclear. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Misfit simulation on implant-supported prostheses with different combinations of engaging and nonengaging titanium bases: Part 3: A radiographic evaluation
The fit of implant-supported prostheses plays an important role in their mechanical and biological stability. Clinically, the prosthetic fit is typically assessed radiographically, but this method relies on the operator ’s subjective evaluation. Whether available digital tools could optimize the evaluation of the prosthetic fit is uncertain. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Mounting digital casts on a virtual articulator by using two-dimensional facial photographs with a facebow: A technique
This technique uses 3 or 4 two-dimensional (2D) photographs, including a frontal headshot with a facebow and lip retractors, a profile headshot with a facebow and lip retractors on the right or left side, and a frontal headshot with a facebow during maximum smile without retractors. These 2D photographs are used to digitally mount casts on a virtual articulator. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Improving the accuracy of complete arch implant digital scans by using auxiliary clips for intraoral scan bodies: A dental technique
A technique to improve the accuracy of complete arch implant intraoral digital scans and the accuracy of their virtual casts is described. Obtaining accurate complete arch implant intraoral digital scans with an intraoral scanner is challenging because of the smooth and movable tissues of edentulous areas. The described technique uses auxiliary clips attached to intraoral scan bodies to cover interimplant edentulous spans with immobile tooth-like geometric references that are more favorable for intraoral scanning. Comprehensive analysis of the maxillary esthetic zone for immediate implant placement using cone beam computed tomography: A study of 352 maxillary images
Previous studies have examined the maxillary esthetic zone for immediate implant placement, but these studies had small sample sizes and did not investigate multiple parameters. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Enhancing the gingival contour of an anterior implant restoration by using a guided bone regeneration abutment
Deficiencies in the alveolar bone and surrounding gingiva can pose challenges in implant placement within the esthetic zone. This clinical report describes the reconstruction of gingival tissue contours through guided bone regeneration (GBR) in the anterior maxilla during implant placement by using a modified titanium abutment to maintain the osteogenic space adjacent to the gingival margin and implant neck. Influence of post material and ferrule thickness on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated premolars: A laboratory study
The influence of the ferrule thickness and post materials on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth remains unclear. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

CAD-CAM fabrication of semiprecision LOCATOR-style abutments to correct severely misaligned implants supporting a 4-implant maxillary overdenture
Implant-supported removable overdentures are a popular treatment option with a favorable impact on a patient ’s quality of life. A maxillary removable overdenture without palatal coverage should be supported by at least 4 implants uniformly distributed around the arch and connected by either semiprecision attachments or a bar. Optimally these 4 implants should be parallel or have their long axes nearly a ligned to facilitate the prosthodontic phase of treatment by allowing the use of standard components. Improving the accuracy of complete arch implant intraoral digital scans by using horizontal scan bodies with occlusal geometry: A dental technique
A technique to improve the accuracy of complete arch implant intraoral digital scans and to obtain more accurate virtual casts with them is described. First, 2 complete arch intraoral digital scans were obtained with an intraoral scanner: a multiunit abutment digital scan and an implant digital scan with reusable horizontal intraoral scan bodies (ISBs) placed on the implants. These were previously created by combining the conventional ISBs compatible with the patient ’s implants with extensional structures with occlusal geometry. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

In vitro evaluation of shape-memory hydrogels for removable dental prostheses and optimization of phase-transition temperature for intraoral use
Removable dental prostheses require periodic relining with the loss of intaglio surface fit because of mucosal shape changes over time. Therefore, a new material with high adaptability to tissue changes over time would be beneficial. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Facially driven guided crown lengthening using a complete digital workflow: A dental technique
A facially driven digital guided crown lengthening method using the virtual smile design approach supplemented with a static 3-dimensional face scan that demonstrates the digital data of extraoral soft tissue is presented. The technique enables the practitioner to virtually design the new smile and surgically plan the crown lengthening procedure. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)
