Application of 3D digital smile design based on virtual articulation analysis in esthetic dentistry: A technique
A technique for the application of a virtual articulation system in 3-dimensional digital smile design (DSD) during esthetic restoration is described. To acquire stable occlusion and a smooth jaw movement pattern without premature contacts or interference, a digital facebow and a virtual articulator were used to collect and analyze a patient ’s occlusal data and jaw movement information. The original pattern of occlusal contacts and jaw movements were diagnosed as stable and copied to the digital design of the new prostheses. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Treatment of a severely compromised endodontically treated tooth with a 2-piece premanufactured glass-fiber post: A clinical report
A 2-piece premanufactured glass-fiber post-and-core for a child with a severely compromised endodontically treated tooth to restore dental form, function, and esthetics, is described. A shorter chair time than for the conventional options was needed, and the post provided an adequate biomechanical response with a reduced intracanal cement thickness. Comparative analysis of the retention force and deformation of PEEK and PEKK removable partial denture clasps with different thicknesses and undercut depths
The retentive force and deformation of milled polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks are not well understood. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Accelerated denture base festooning using a free 3D modeling computer program: A dental technique
Denture bases should be contoured to recreate the natural contours of the tissues being replaced to ensure optimum phonetics, esthetics, and function.1 Several suggestions have been made regarding the desired shape and contours of the artificial root eminences, denture base extension contours, and surface characterization of the denture base.2 –4 Traditionally, achieving these contours has been a time-consuming process done manually during the waxing stage of denture fabrication and requiring significant skill and artistry. Effect of a modified laminate veneer preparation design on absolute margin discrepancy and marginal overhang
Veneer preparation designs impact veneer accuracy. However, whether a modified design could reduce absolute margin discrepancy and marginal overhangs is unclear. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Comparison of tensile properties and porcelain bond strength in metal frameworks fabricated by selective laser melting using three different Co-Cr alloy powders
The selective laser melting (SLM) manufacturing technique has been widely employed to produce Co-Cr dental metal frameworks. The selection of Co-Cr alloy powders has the potential to influence the microstructure and tensile properties, consequently impacting the bond strength of the metal-porcelain. However, limited information is available regarding the effect of Co-Cr alloy powder on these properties when all other factors remain consistent. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Effect of different intraoral scanning strategies on the marginal and internal fit of CAD-CAM inlay restorations: An in vitro study
Whether the scanning strategy of intraoral scanners (IOSs) affects the accuracy of the digital recording for an indirect ceramic inlay restoration is unclear. Furthermore, which strategy would be optimal and most effective is uncertain. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Prosthetic complications and failures of implant-supported fixed partial dentures: A scoping review
Although high survival rates of implant-supported fixed partial dentures (ISFPDs) have been reported, evidence for complications, failures, and factors that interfere with their longevity is lacking. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Utilizing orthodontic appliances to retain and disguise a pediatric maxillary obturator throughout growth
Unique challenges are encountered when providing an obturator for an adolescent patient. Challenges include the need to modify the obturator throughout growth, engaging the mixed dentition or partially erupted teeth with minimal undercuts, the psychosocial challenges of an actively maturing patient, and the possible need for coincidental orthodontic therapy. This clinical report describes the ongoing rehabilitation of a patient who presented at the age of 10 with a biopsy-confirmed palatal mucoepidermoid carcinoma. Factors influencing success rate of ceramic veneers on endodontically treated anterior teeth: A systematic review
More conservative restorative approaches have been advocated for nonvital anterior teeth as an alternative to complete coverage crowns to maximize the preservation of tooth structure. Systematic reviews that investigated factors influencing the success rate of porcelain veneers on endodontically treated anterior teeth are lacking. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

A clinical comparison of sagittal condylar inclination and Bennett angle derived from a conventional electronic tracking device and an optical jaw tracking device
The challenges of conventional methods to measure the sagittal condylar inclination and the Bennett angle include patient discomfort and an output of averaged values calculated on the arc of mandibular movement. Programming these average values into a mechanical or mathematically simulated articulator may introduce occlusal errors. (Source: Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry)

Feasibility and accuracy of a task-autonomous robot for zygomatic implant placement
Zygomatic implants (ZIs) should be placed accurately as planned preoperatively to minimize complications and maximize the use of the remaining bone. Current digital techniques such as static guides and dynamic navigation are affected by human error; therefore, new techniques are required to improve the accuracy of ZI placement.
