Patterns, Risk Factors, and Mental Health Correlates of Cyber Intimate Partner Violence in Hispanic Emerging Adults
ConclusionsLatent classes showed bidirectional cyber IPV with varying probabilities of exposure to victimization and perpetration. Findings are in line with the cumulative risk hypothesis as results showed that exposure to multiple traumatic childhood experiences and cyber IPV accumulate and have a detrimental effect on the mental health correlates. Intervention and preventative strategies should address the impact of hazardous use of technology on intimate relationships and mental health correlates. (Source: Journal of Family Violence)

Narcissism and Intimate Partner Violence Using Information and Communication Technology in Japan
ConclusionIn considering narcissism as a risk factor for CDA, it is insufficient to examine the relationship between narcissism and CDA. Both types of narcissism and threat to self-evaluation must be examined. (Source: Journal of Family Violence)

Online Conversations About Abuse: Responses to IPV Survivors from Support Communities
ConclusionsFindings suggest that online forums may help bridge the gap between survivors and resources. Professionals who work with IPV or create policies can use these findings to understand how to help survivors find support. This may include encouraging survivors to connect with informal supports such as family and friends, or access formal support such as hotlines, therapy, or legal counsel. The findings also suggest that more research is needed to understand what types of questions survivors of violence have, and what outcomes result from online support. The Child-to-Parent Violence Functions Scale (CPV-F): Development and Validation
ConclusionsFuture research should consider the function of CPV, as it may impact the relevance of risk factors. Moving forward, the CPV-F could be used for comprehensive investigative profiling, with a focus on parent and dyadic factors, to resolve heterogeneity in the field. Such factors are crucial to intervention yet under explored. As a caregiver-report measure, the CPV-F is well-positioned to aid in these investigations. (Source: Journal of Family Violence)

Types of domestic violence in Pakistan: Elaborating on Johnson ’s typology
ConclusionsThe Johnson control typology does, indeed, apply to intimate partner violence in Pakistan, with the important addition of a third type of male violence, rooted in the joint family system that is prevalent in many countries around the world. In future research, it would be important to include a sample of non-violent couples for comparison, especially important in cultures in which the joint family system authorizes considerable “normal” control over women. Although we have assumed that the newly-identified type (familial intimate terrorism) involves men (and sometimes their families) abusing the norms of thi...

Strengthening Relationships between Couples to Respond to Domestic Violence: a Commentary on Policy Changes Needed to Support this Evolution
AbstractBroad calls to narrow the role of police in American society have begun to include arguments to reduce the carceral responding to intimate partner violence (IPV) and add a stronger social response. The field ’s improved understanding of lethality risk assessment; better classification of offender risk by past involvement with general violence or family only violence; and positive findings from trials of relationship strengthening interventions as couples counseling, restorative justice practices, and mediation, call for exploring relationship-strengthening approaches to complement more carceral approaches. Yet, a...
