Effect of moxibustion at Feishu (BL 13) on airway inflammation in asthma model rats
ConclusionBoth moxibustion at Feishu (BL 13) and intragastric administration of dexamethasone can improve the asthma attack-like symptoms of ovalbumin-sensitized rats; regulating the inflammatory cell numbers and the inflammatory factor contents in the lung may be one mechanism of moxibustion in treating asthma. Effects of different transdermal penetration enhancers applied to herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion on liver lipids, HSL and HMG-CoA reductase in hyperlipidemia rabbits
ConclusionThe application of laurocapram and borneol, as transdermal penetration enhancers, in herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion can promote the penetration of the drugs in the herbal cake, increase the levels of HDL-C and Apo-A1, improve the metabolism of HSL and HMG-CoA reductase, and also simultaneously reduce the levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and Apo-B in the liver. The transdermal penetration enhancement effect of borneol is slightly better than or equivalent to that of laurocapram. (Source: Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science)

Analysis of clinical application patterns in acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of Alzheimer disease
ConclusionIn the acupuncture-moxibustion prescriptions for AD, the main points are Baihui (GV 20), Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Neiguan (PC 6), Zusanli (ST 36), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Taixi (KI 3). Monotherapy of acupuncture has the highest frequency amongst the treatment methods, but its effective rate is lower than that of acupuncture plus medication and monotherapy of electroacupuncture. Therapeutic observation on herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion for dysmenorrhea due to deficiency cold
ConclusionThe herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion has the same therapeutic efficacy for dysmenorrhea as the mild moxibustion; the two moxibustion methods can significantly improve the concomitant symptoms of dysmenorrhea, and the herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion is little better. Effect of An-pressing manipulation on post-stroke muscle spasticity in rats and its mechanism study
ConclusionBased on the theory of ‘anti-stretch reflex’ of tendon organs, the use of An-pressing manipulation to induce the ‘anti-stretch reflex’ by stimulating the tendon organs can improve the muscle spasticity of rats, which is better than An-pressing the muscle belly. Increased levels of Gly and GABA in rat plasma and L1-L3 segments of spinal cord may be one mechanism of An-pressing manipulation to improve muscle spasticity by stimulating tendon organs. Clinical efficacy of acupuncture in treatment of chronic urticaria and its ffects on the content of IgE and the imbalance of Th1/Th2 cell function
ConclusionCombined acupuncture and medication can enhance the cured and markedly effective rate in treating chronic urticaria. Acupuncture is equivalent to cetirizine hydrochloride tablets comparing the clinical efficacy in treatment of chronic urticaria. Acupuncture plus medication and acupuncture alone both can effectively mitigate the clinical symptoms, with low incidence of adverse reactions. The relapse rate is low when using acupuncture together with medication. Acupuncture plus medication can work better in regulating the contents of IgE and IFN- γ and improving the imbalance of Th1/Th2 cell function. (Source: Jour...
