Exploring the effect of acupuncture plus mild hypothermia on miRNA-204 and its target gene expressions in CIRI rat brain tissues based on MAPK signal pathway
ConclusionAcupuncture, mild hypothermia, and acupuncture plus mild hypothermia reduced the neurological impairment score and the cerebral infarction area in CIRI rats, while acupuncture plus mild hypothermia showed the most significant effect. In regulating miRNA-204 target gene expressions, acupuncture plus mild hypothermia showed the same effect on Ntrk2 and Ppp3r1 expressions, while better effect on Map3k8 expression compared with either acupuncture or hypothermia. Efficacy and effect on related brain-gut peptides of acupoint sticking therapy for functional dyspepsia
ConclusionAcupoint sticking with Jianpi Tongjing Zhitong ointment has a remarkable clinical efficacy in treating patients with functional dyspepsia due to liver-qi stagnation and spleen deficiency and is able to influence the secretion of serum 5-HT and ghrelin. Improving the gastrointestinal motility through the regulation of related brain-gut peptides is suggested as an underlying mechanism for this therapy. Experimental observation of effects of acupoints, cone numbers and durations of moxibustion with different moxibustion methods on skin surface and inside temperature
ConclusionCone changing temperature under the same specifications of herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion was confirmed. Temperature difference between surface and inside of different acupoint skin at the same maximum temperature was significantly different due to the cone numbers and moxibustion methods, which showed the highest at Shenshu (BL 23), the second at Shenque (CV 8), and the lowest at Zusanli (ST 36). The influence of acupoint factor should be considered to determine the quantitative indicators of moxibustion. (Source: Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science)

Discussing tuina for atlantoaxial subluxation in adults based on the theory of ‘tendon-bone balance’
AbstractAccording to Chinese medicine, the atlantoaxial joint is a composite joint composed of tendons and bones, and the stability of the joint depends on the ‘tendon-bone balance’ involving tendons, ligaments, atlas and axis. Multiple causes of ‘tendon off-position, joint subluxation’ will lead to joint ‘tendon-bone imbalance’, which will evolve into atlantoaxial subluxation (AAS), endangering human health. Chinese therapeutic massage (tuina) is a very effective treatment for AAS in adults, but conventional manipulations are prone to ineffectiveness or accidents due to neglect of the causal relationship of th...
