Neurodevelopmental Outcome of the Infants with Transient Hypothyroxinemia of Prematurity in Newborn Intensive Care Unit
CONCLUSION: This study showed that although levothyroxine replacement therapy associated with BPD and ROP higher rates, it seems not to improve long-term neurological outcomes in infants with THOP. Prospective controlled studies with larger sample size are needed to clarify the role of levothyroxine replacement in THOP.PMID:37750208 | DOI:10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2023.2023-6-5 (Source: JCRPE Journal of Clinical Research in Pediatric Endocrinology)

Minipuberty in Male Full-term Neonates Appropriate and Small for Gestational Age and in Preterm Babies: Data From a Single Centre
CONCLUSIONS: This study provides valuable information on the postnatal HPG axis activation in term and preterm infants. Minipuberty may involve an early window of opportunity to evaluate the HPG axis functionality. Further studies with a long-term follow-up are needed with a special focus on possible consequences of GA and BW.PMID:37750394 | DOI:10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2023.2023-4-9 (Source: JCRPE Journal of Clinical Research in Pediatric Endocrinology)

SHOX Variations in Idiopathic Short Stature in North India and a Review of Cases from Asian Countries
CONCLUSION: This study compiles findings from the last decade and provides an updated picture of the prevalence of SHOX variations in Asians, emphasizing their potential as therapeutic targets in ISS patients. Further investigations of higher quality, large cohort size with functional validation is warranted to validate this association.PMID:37750395 | DOI:10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2023.2023-3-13 (Source: JCRPE Journal of Clinical Research in Pediatric Endocrinology)

Lymphocytic Infundibuloneurohypophysitis Diagnosis Owing to Positive Anti-rabphilin-3A Antibody Test Result in an 8-year-old Boy with Early-onset Central Diabetes İnsipidus
We report the case of an 8-year-old boy with central diabetes insipidus (CDI) who was clinically diagnosed with LINH based on RPH3A-Ab positivity. He was diagnosed with CDI using a water deprivation test combined with desmopressin administration. Serum and cerebrospinal fluid tumor markers were negative, and T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed the absence of high signal intensity in the posterior pituitary gland and an enlarged pituitary stalk. Anterior pituitary function tests revealed no abnormalities. No pituitary biopsy was performed because of its invasive nature, and desmopressin treatment was initi...

Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems and the Efficacy of Acarbose Treatment in Cystic Fibrosis-related Dysglycemia
J Clin Res Pediatr Endocrinol. 2023 Sep 15. doi: 10.4274/jcrpe.galenos.2023.2023-2-12. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEarly detection of glycemic dysregulation and optimization of glycemic control at cystic fibrosis related diabetes (CFRD) is associated with improved pulmonary function and decreased mortality. The standard 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is the current routine screening test for CFRD. However, hyperglycemia can be detected by continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMS) in patients with normal OGTT evaluation. High-dose acarbose is an important alternative, in the treatment of glycemic dysregulati...
