Outcomes of pessary fitting trials for patients with stage IV pelvic organ prolapse: a prospective study
ConclusionFor patients with stage IV POP, the successful fitting rate is as high as 80% or more. More vaginal deliveries, a history of hysterectomy, and a larger vaginal introitus/TVL ratio (ratio  >0.6) were predictors of unsuccessful pessary fitting. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Association between the rs1036819 polymorphism of the ZFAT gene and pelvic organ prolapse: a case –control study
ConclusionsNo association was detected between the rs1036819 polymorphism of theZFAT gene and advanced POP. Age, number of pregnancies, at least one vaginal delivery, weight of the newborn, and POP family history were independent risk factors for POP. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

The relationship between women's mode of delivery, body image, self-respect, and genital self-image
ConclusionsMode of delivery was not a predictor of female genital self-image in the early postpartum period. Women with high self-esteem had a positive body image and genital self-image. Age, self-esteem, and body image were influential on female genital self-image. On the other hand, age, self-esteem, and body image predicted about 19.5% of female genital self-image according to multiple linear regression. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Nocturnal polyuria in women: results from the EpiNP study
ConclusionsNP is prevalent in women with considerable bother and is often associated with other urinary symptoms. Multifactorial causes and potential treatments of NP should be considered, particularly at a later age. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Impact of COVID-19 on surgical procedures for stress urinary incontinence in the Brazilian public health system
ConclusionThe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the surgical treatment of FSUI in Brazil was significant in 2020 and persisted in 2021. Access to surgical treatment of FSUI varied according to geographic region, HDI, and per capita income, even before COVID-19. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Diagnosis, management and training in perineal trauma: a UK national survey of obstetricians
ConclusionsTraining experience for physicians in obstetric perineal trauma varies. Further improvement in training and education in perineal trauma, particularly in OASI, is needed for physicians. Perineal trauma that is not included in the Sultan Classification is often misclassified. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Sigmoid neovagina prolapse treated with Altemeier procedure: case report and systematic review of the literature
ConclusionOur review shows that the recurrence after correction of sigmoid neovagina prolapses is higher than previously reported. Laparoscopy colposacropexy appeared to be the best approach, but it ’s not always feasible. In these scenarios, a mucosal resection using the Altemeier’s procedure is the most effective surgery. The role of artificial intelligence in the future of urogynecology
AbstractArtificial intelligence (AI) in medicine is a rapidly growing field aimed at using machine learning models to improve health outcomes and patient experiences. Many new platforms have become accessible and therefore it seems inevitable that we consider how to implement them in our day-to-day practice. Currently, the specialty of urogynecology faces new challenges as the population grows, life expectancy increases, and quality of life expectation is much improved. As AI has a lot of potential to promote the discipline of urogynecology, we aim to explore its abilities and possible use in the future. Challenges and ris...

Does variation of surgical technique affect native tissue anterior pelvic organ prolapse repair outcomes?
ConclusionSurgical technique may influence the outcome of native tissue anterior POP repairs. Our results should not change practice but inform future research; to develop methods of explicitly recording surgical techniques and allow confirmation of the effect of these aspects of technique on outcome.
