A systematic review of the surgical management of apical pelvic organ prolapse
ConclusionThere is no evidence to conclude that hysterectomy is superior to uterine-sparing approaches. MISC should be considered over ASC given similar efficacy and reduced complications. Superiority of MHP is unproven against native tissue hysteropexy. Further studies under standardised settings are required for direct comparisons between the surgical management methods. Establishment and validation of a risk prediction model for postpartum stress urinary incontinence based on pelvic floor ultrasound and clinical data
ConclusionsWe constructed a prediction model for postpartum SUI based on pelvic floor ultrasound measurement data and certain clinical data. In clinical practice, this convenient and reliable tool can provide a basis for formulation of treatment strategies for patients with postpartum SUI. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Prevention and treatment of peripartum urinary incontinence —a survey of hospital-based maternity services in Ireland
ConclusionsGeographical inequity exists in the services offered to pregnant and postpartum women nationally. This indicates that many pregnant and postpartum women, both continent and incontinent, cannot avail themselves of preventative and treatment services within the maternity hospital system and points to the need to review, reconfigure and resource services. Obstetric risk factors for anal sphincter trauma in a urogynecological population
ConclusionsIn this observational study in urogynecological patients, 12% showed a residual EAS defect on imaging. The most obvious risk factors for the diagnosis of a residual defect on exo-anal imaging were the first vaginal birth and forceps, with higher-order vaginal parity conveying additional risk. Implementing telemedicine in urogynecology: A feasibility study
Conclusions Telemedicine in urogynecology is feasible and can be implemented in the studied population. However, actions are essential to adequately support patient preference and improve the acceptance of telemedicine. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Impact of heavy resistance training on pregnancy and postpartum health outcomes
ConclusionsIndividuals who engaged in heavy prenatal resistance training had typical perinatal and pelvic floor health outcomes that were not altered whether they engaged in, or avoided Olympic lifting, Valsalva or supine weightlifting. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Pudendal, but not tibial, nerve stimulation modulates vulvar blood perfusion in anesthetized rodents
ConclusionsThis is the first study to examine vulvar hemodynamics with LSCI in response to nerve stimulation. This study demonstrates that pudendal nerve stimulation modulates vulvar blood perfusion, indicating the potential of pudendal neuromodulation to improve genital blood flow as a treatment for women with sexual dysfunction. This study provides further support for neuromodulation as a treatment for women with sexual arousal disorders. Studies in unanesthetized animal models of  genital arousal disorders are needed to obtain further insights into the mechanisms of neural control over genital hemodynamics. (Source: In...

Effects of interferential current stimulation in women with pelvic organ prolapse: a prospective randomized sham-controlled study
ConclusionsInterferential current stimulation was effective in improving POP stage, PFM strength/endurance, and QoL in women with POP. IF current stimulation can be used as a complementary treatment method in women with POP. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)

Current state of bladder diary: a survey and review of the literature
ConclusionsThe literature supports the use of BD; however, many survey respondents, including fellowship-trained attendings, never or rarely use BD. Most respondents reported difficulty in using BD. More research is needed to improve the ease, accuracy, and widespread adaptation of BD use in clinical practice. (Source: International Urogynecology Journal)
